Preserving old records involves knowing and understanding old records storage systems. Here is a Box File, filled with correspondence and ephemera from 1912. Box files were very popular at the turn of the Twentieth Century, and as you can see, a series of box files lined up nicely on a shelf, looking like well-tamed books. We appreciate the look, and we can certainly get behind a good filing system, but we don’t appreciate the wooden substrate or the fasteners used on the records inside!
