I had my hunch that Freeza wasn't going to know what a kiss was, between the fact that the tail twine is pretty established as the main Arcosian thing and that we don't see it from the main established Arcosian couple (not that we see Cold and Nova being overly affectionate much, especially by the time Freeza comes around). He only saw that as her giving him a mouthful of spit. When they eventually (heavy emphasis on the "eventually") get their feelings sorted out, I don't think the concept will seem any less weird and germy for him, but hopefully, one day, they'll be able to lock tails when no one's looking.
Also, I love the way that Ryuu's smile comes back when she realizes he doesn't understand kissing.
Guess she has the chance to start bluffing to cover her crush for a bit. What could go wrong?
Yeah, you pretty much nailed the intent there. Tail twining is the “native” gesture, so something like kissing just doesn’t register as meaningful to him at all. Saiyans are weird! It’s not even an emotional rejection. He genuinely doesn’t see the point of it. To cut him some slack, this isn't necessarily a one-sided issue. There may have been other times where that cultural divide results in her unintentionally giving him some mixed signals. Gestures or actions that mean nothing to her could read very differently to him . . . 😈
