The Quicksand it was named. An aptly named establishment as anyone who stepped foot inside of it would be swallowed up by the stupidity that was abounds on many nights. This night was no different from the rest of them. Arcuris stood by the door and even ventured inside of it, speaking to those drunk enough or ignorant enough to listen to him.
"I'm looking for a man named Sveinn Inman. Do you know anything about him?" There were only a few that answered him. Unfortunately most were too drunk, high, or trying to score to give him a clear answer. There were not many leads to go on other than asking some off duty Immortal Flames guards of any whereabouts of whoever Sveinn Innman was. This invited some eyebrow raising and got the attention of a few others. It didn't help his case he received suspicious stares from clientele due to his expensive attire.
Noticing he was being followed by none other than Ul'dah's finest, he turned around to spot the group. He was being followed since he left the Quicksand. He adjusted his glasses and turned on his heels before staring down the group of five Immortal Flames guards. He tilted his head and fiddled with one of his cuff links before he spoke to them, "What kind of problem do we have where I'm trailed by some of the city's finest?"
"I'm not sure who you are or where you've come from, but I recommend you stop asking questions about those serving in our forces."
Supposedly the head guard in charge spoke to Arc, a large highlander, who stared equally as harshly as Arc did to them, "Sveinn is a damn good man and a war hero so I would advise you don't go around harassing others by asking about him."
Arc smirked when he heard the phrase war hero being spit at him. That smirk grew into a sarcastic smile and looked to the ground in front of him before, "I think you might have the wrong idea about Innman. You might also have the wrong idea about war in general with that whole heroes bit..."
"How fucking dare you." The man grabbed the hilt of his sword as the other four of them went to stop him, two of them grabbing his arm and shouting to him to stop.
"I recommend all of you leave me be before you end up with your weapons up your asses." Arcuris had balled up his fists and stepped forward with one foot, as if goading them on.
"Are you threatening the guard of Ul'dah?!" The ones holding him back grabbed the hilts of their weapons as they put their feet forward in retaliation to Arc's words.
He narrowed his eyes and smiled, "It's not a threat." Arcuris put away his magitek glasses as his eyes turned pitch black, his irises glowing blood red, "It's a promise."
“If you’re going to bet on something, you will lose.”
Unsurprisingly the guard's threatening tone and gestures went away upon seeing his eyes and feeling the aura originating from him. Something was surely wrong with this hyur. His height, his pretense, and his confidence being outnumbered was unsettling. They kept their hands on their weapons but started to back off, keeping their sight on him. He was not backing down. When they were far enough, the guards made their retreat, leaving Arc by himself in the alley.
"Run on home, little soldiers."
Arcuris took images of all of the guards with his magitek glasses in order to find more of them later. There was one in particular that visited one of the local brothels and he waited for the man to exit. After, the guard made his way to one of the smaller, less known taverns. He main continued his way, making shady transactions with some of the miscreants of the city, and even the other guards. Eventually the man would return home to his family, a wife and two kids. Arcuris had seen enough for one night and paid for a room at one of the various taverns in Ul'dah.
The events of the next day continued the same way. He observed the man go about his sinful ways until he stepped foot from the tavern to head for home. Not a few moments later, Arcuris, clad in dark robes, placed a cloth around the man's face from behind until he quickly went unconscious after trying to struggle for a few short lived seconds. A couple nearby noticed him holding the guard and he smirked as he peered underneath of his cowl, "He gets this way. I'm just bringing him home to avoid trouble, you know?" The couple shrugged, not wanting or caring to get involved.
"Wakey wakey, sweetie."
A splash of bone chilling water slapped the man awake as a light blinded his eyes as he heard the voice in the darkness speak. He struggled to move, his hands bound behind his back and his legs tied together as he laid on the floor. Imitating a worm, or trying to poorly, the man tried in futility to crawl away from the unknown voice. That voice, he had heard it once before.
Arcuris placed a foot on the side of the man's face, and smiled down at him while the light blinded the squirming man, "So you want to tell me about Sveinn's location before or after I beat it out of you?"
At first the man didn't answer and just struggled to do nothing under the squeezing boot of Arcuris, "I ain't telling you shit. You're in shit shape when they look for me."
Arc sighed and leaned over, grabbing both of the man's arms that were bound behind his back, he slipped his glassed in his vest before he continued to speak to the man, "Look, my time is precious and I have things to do and I'm not going to stand here and let you harp on empty threats. So, I'm going to get to the point." Pressing his foot further into the man's face he lifted the man's arms up and wrenched them around, grinding and snapping the bones in one of his arm's in a sickly popping noise.
"You mother fucking piece of fucking shit I'm going to ki-" He screamed again as Arcuris snapped his other arm with sharp twist in another direction.
"Such foul language. I'll tell you what, arrange a meeting with Sveinn near the dispatch yard." Arcuris leaned over, the man screaming with both of his arms broken and bound. He pulled out a wicked curved knife and held it up to the man's face, placing the blade near his face, "Do it or I'll carve up your ugly fucking face like a chicken or maybe I’ll tell you’re wife about that little side piece you have from the brothel. Maybe I’ll do both?”
He wondered for a second and raised his eyebrows in thought, “I wonder which one is going to feed you without use of your arms." He could smell piss and looked over to see the man soiling himself on the floor, "You all are the same. Always talking shit until someone comes along you shouldn’t fuck with."
He put the knife back in his side holster and glared to the man, "Tell him to meet me there tomorrow. Midnight." He smashed the man in the face with his foot, knocking him out again, drooling blood on the floor along with a few teeth.
"Now, I just have to get this asshole back home..."
So, I decided to sit down and give out whatever other blogs that I have for different RP characters, fandoms, etc. This main blog is for funny memes, videos, pictures, shitposting, etc. So if you get a like from this one that’s me.
Arcuris Rilanox - Final Fantasy XIV
So this is the second character I created in FFXIV and the one I like writing for most. He’s a renegade Garlean super soldier who has had a rough ride and has many, many enemies unintentionally and through his own actions.
@arcurisrilanox
Mitsune Rokuyari - Final Fantasy XIV
This is my first character I made in FFXIV, the Dark Knight Xaela demon slaying murder lizard who has a family past that has cursed him with dark but powerful magic.
@mitsunerokuyari
Pyranthios Kelanthis - World of Warcraft
I don’t play WoW much anymore due to me not liking recent Blizzard business decisions and ideas but at least I still like RPing with my characters still. I have a few of them by Pyranthios Kelanthis (demon hunter) is my main one.
@kelanthis
Warhammer 40,000 / Warhammer Fantasy - Harbingers of the Apocalypse
I’m going to admit that the Warhammer 40,000 universe might be one of my favorite settings, if not my favorite setting, of all time. I also post a lot of pictures, memes, and even my own models / armies that I recently got back into painting. I have had a lot of fun running this blog and going to be posting more painting and model projects soon.
“If anyone was wondering if Arcuris was in fact alive, wonder no more.”
Tallian brought up the only two images that were took of Arc. He leaned against the table near him and sighed, “We lost contact with the agent who sent these. I can only assume he caught wind of him taking images...”
The others who used to be allies and comrades of Arcuris. Umbrianas shook his head and peered to Tallian, “With everything going on what’s the plan?”
Tallian peered to him and tilted his head in thought. Before he could answer, Sevina interrupted, “Send me after him. Let me loose.”
Tallian was almost too agreeable with the proposal, “Go after him. This image was taken in Ul’dah, Why he is there I have no idea.”
She did not look happy with the order but nodded slowly, “Of course, sir.”
Tyraxus and Umbrianas started to go back to their duties, Tallian approached Sevina and put his hand on her shoulder before speaking in a hushed voice no others could hear, “Bring him back here. Do whatever you have to. We need him back with us, do you understand? No matter what he did before...”
She smiled evilly, although somewhat confused on the matter,“Yes, sir.”
“Just think of him as the perfect soldier. A man with more stamina, strength, and durability than even our magitek armor. His wounds also regenerate like nothing we have seen. You can injure him and it will heal in seconds. Even injuries that puncture heart, lungs, major organs and arteries, and even his brain can heal wounds that would kill the average soldier. He even has dermal armor, basically body armor underneath of his skin.”
The magitek technician that operated on Arcuris pointed out of all of the scars along his body, they were thin lines with circles running parallel on each side of them as he was asleep on the table. It was an intricate work of scars that looked like some strange tattoo lining his major bone structures. They were running tests on him with magitek machines, checking his vitals and all of the installed components within his body.
“Here is perhaps the most astonishing part, sir. Amazingly, he even has a connection to aetherial means. I don’t need to remind you how special that is to Pureblood Garleans. With all of these improvements, we unlocked the latent power he had within him. I haven’t seen any of the other subjects who can house this much raw, untapped potential, commander. His abilities are going to grow exponentially, might I even presume infinitely.”
Commander Tallian nodded and looked over the subject, “Rilanox was a great soldier before. I can only imagine how well he will perform with all of these magitek miracles.”
Arcuris’s plans for staying within reach of Gyr Abania needed to come to fruition. After searching quite some time for someone within the ceruleum business who was discreet and confidential, he came upon a highlander who fit the bill. The man in question wanted to meet at the Golden Saucer, which Arcuris reluctantly agreed to. His land trip here did not help him unwind or relax like he wanted to. It only helped to make him more anxious.
However, being the head of a mining group, he thought meeting in a shady area might look a little more suspicious. Arcuris mentioned to the man his interest in creuleum manufacturing.
“That...is quite a bit of ceruleum....” The man looked at the tomestone that Arcuris held up for him to view how much was beneath the mines. His eyes widened after being shown the deposit that Arcuris had.
“Daddy! Can I have some money to play some games?” The man brought along one of his children with him because she caught wind her dad was heading to the Golden Saucer. He smiled and gave her some money before she ran off to play games. The man smiled to Arcuris after chuckling at his daughter to play a nearby game within eye’s view. He turned back to the prospective ceruelum owner, “So what would be stopping me and others from just going in and taking this over?”
Arcuris curved into a smile as he bared some teeth before speaking, “We’ll just say everyone who has crossed me before has wound up in suspicious disappearances and deaths. I suggest not doing that...”
The man raised his eyebrows at the threat that was just given him. Instead of getting upset or anger, the man instead just laughed and smacked his knee, “I like you already. No nonsense, bullshit, just straight to the point man!” He smiled before speaking once more after clearing his throat as he tried to calm the air from his ill attempted humor of a joke before, “So where did you come across all of this information? Surely you just didn’t stumble upon it by chance.”
Arc was getting somewhat aggitated with all of the questioning and shook his head, “About that whole non disclosure and discreet business dealings you are praised for. Let’s just stick to that, shall we?” His grin was filled with impatience as he tapped the tomestone, “Curiousity kills more than just cats, friend.”
He nodded, understanding the entirity of the business deal, “Alright, when would you like to get inspected, get estimates, construction started, and when do you want workers?”
“As soon as possible.”
The man nodded again and smiled. He reached out a hand to shake. Arcuris held out his gloved hand and gave the man a very firm handshake to show him his strength. The man chuckled as the handshake was completed, shaking it off as he somewhat joked around from his hand getting clenched by what felt like a vice, “Nice to do business with you....Mr?...” He trailed off waiting for a name.
“Aban Blue.”
The man chuckled and nodded, “Fancy! Alright, Mr. Blue, we will get everything started as soon as possible. A pleasure to do business. I think I shall stay a little longer with my daughter.”
Arcuris stood up and nodded, giving him a slight wave goodbye, “I have things to do tonight. Do enjoy your time here and nice to meet you as well, friend.”
It’s been a hard road. I’ve had to say goodbye to a lot of people and things I’ve loved over the past few years. My brother, my love, my home, and even both of you. When your eyes get opened to the truth, a lot of things become blurred, the lines get grey, and even sometimes what was right becomes wrong. When it happens you start to think about a lot of things you’ve taken for granted and events you wish you could have changed.
It’s not easy for me admit my faults. Gods knows I have them. I’ve been a prideful and arrogant bastard at times especially without you or Lariscia to help me through it. I know I havent treated you as well as you deserve, even though the two of you deserve the world for raising my brother and I and for helping Larsicia and I with our wedding and helping us find a home. I wanted to return the favor to the both of you somehow, I just didn’t know how.
I’ve done a lot of questionable things and many of them were outright wrong. I never thought in my wildest dreams of being a child would I grow up to what I am today, he would have been scared of it. I know you have seen it as well. I’ve lost my optimism, my dreams, and even my kindness and good natured spirit. I ignored the both of you when you wanted to talk about losing Lariscia and Gallerius.
I was angry at the world and took it out on the wrong people. I feel I still am now. There were so many words I wanted to say to you to make it better, so many actions I could have done. Now, I’m not sure if I will ever be able to. I just wanted you to know that I love you both.
Arcuris stood on top of a large, dead tree overlooking the outskirts of Coerthas from the Black Shroud. The snow fell slowly but in large formations, gathering into clumps on his clothing and hair. In his right hand, he was rolling a gil coin in between his fingers, reminding himself of the events taking place over the past few months. It felt like every single bridge he crossed, he burned it to ash. It was for the best.
Becoming close to anyone or befriending anyone seemed to end in nothing but bloodshed and heartache. If he’s learned anything over the past few years, it’s better to keep others out of your personal life if you can. Even the breif friendship with Ribald and Kristin Fuller reinforced this stance of his. He felt that she had an eye for him, but he would never have allowed it to happen. It’s one of the reasons he sent her far away from Gyr Abania.
The recent near death experience he had while fighting a loyalist to his former commander left him feeling weak. His powers barely aided him in the last fight and his wounds didn’t regenerate like they should have because of whatever vile liquid was on the blades of the enemy. However, he pulled through and felled the adversary and the creature sent after him. Everything left him empty, devoid of purpose. Something needed to change or it was going to consume him.
