Of course. It was always them. It was always him and that stupid Sparkles getting in her way. Feline eyes narrowed towards the male infront of her, It was good she managed to seclude him away from the others though. She had a chance of easily taking him down this way. Her hands tensed, claws extending from her nails in response. 

‘Man. You must be really dumb. Poor, Sweet, mistreated Bow got separated from his group. I doubt they’ll even notice.”  The feline like female strode forward, despite his grip on the bow. She could dodge it. Most likely. If she couldn't, she’d get out and chase him. He wasn’t going to get far. She rose a hand up, gesturing off to the distance where smoke rose from the trees.

      Adora pulled her friend close. She let him cry for awhile, knowing he must need to let it out, and held him tightly why he did. It was awful, what they had seen today. Even she had been shaken by it—even Queen Angella, who had seen worse things than all of them had combined, had been gravely silent.

      “ I know, Bow. I know. This war is awful. “ Her bandaged hand rested lightly on his hair. “ There’s no need to be sorry—nothing that happened was your fault. Sometimes we just... Sometimes we just lose, I guess. "

            “ Don’t worry, we really didn’t do that much while you were gone. Mostly just training. And meetings. Always meetings. “ She grinned at him. “ How are your dads doing? “

      “ but , i — “ maybe he was right , maybe ... but that didn’t make their loss easy to accept . their early victories had created a standard for adora that she could no longer meet . it seem like every time they went to battle with the horde , they came back nursing their wounds in frustrated defeat . was it because she ra wasn’t enough ?

      or was it because she hadn’t participated in light hope’s training and thus couldn’t tap into she ra’s full power ?

      there were tears burning at the corners of her eyes . like the former horde soldier she was adora tried to wipe them away , sniffle back her tears , before they could be noticed . “ i  just ... i could be better , bow , i know i could be . “

      the battle was over . but it had been so , so awful . and they hadn’t really  even gained much — heavy casualties on both sides , the loss of a lot of resources . but the horde would be back . and the rebellion would have to fight them again .

      glimmer was inconsolable . queen angella was with her now , trying to comfort her . they had lost bow . in the confusion , in the chaos , he’d disappeared . after much looking they’d found his bow and quiver , scraps of his shirt , and bloodstains . but no bow . at first they’d all tried to be optimistic , but it had been nearly a week and they still hadn’t had any news of him .

      adora had never lost anyone before , not like this anyways . catra and her other friends in the horde were still alive at least . bow... she should have been paying more attention . as she ra it was her job to keep the other rebellion fighters safe and she hadn’t been able to do even that much . she’d lost one of her closest friends and she had no one to blame but herself .

      the knock on the door snapped her out of her misery . she doesn’t want to , but she drug herself out of bed to answer it . and on the other side was the very person she’d been crying over .

      “ bow! “ adora hurried the few steps to his side — he looked pretty bad off — and wrapped her arm around his back to help support him . “ we all thought... i’m so ... “ tears dripped down her face , adora tried her best to hold them in but there was no stopping them .” come on ... you need to sit down , and then i can go get the medics for you ... “

      she helped him to the edge of her bed , holding onto him tightly as she tried to sniffle her tears away . “ what ... what happened to you ? we looked for days but there was no sign of you ! “

      “ flowers ? ” she’s a little confused, blinking as she accepted the bouquet from bow .  different colors , but all very beautiful . adora never would have pegged herself for someone who liked flowers—since leaving the horde , though , she’d found that actually really did. “ thanks , bow , they’re beautiful.... but why are you giving them to me ? ”
