Rain on the Roof
A drabble for my Darling Dali for our Characters Aries Johnson and Lincoln Foster. Hope you like it deary!
Warning: Smut at the end however brief, angst and fluff. Also Male on Male. You have been warned.
It was cold, it was dark, and it was wet.
Rain pelted down from the heavens and drenched one Aries Johnson head to toe slowly as fingerless gloved hands held his motorcycle helmet, staring at it blankly. The twenty-one year old college student leaned, almost sitting on the seat of the beloved vehicle, in the dark letting the cold seep in. He was being stupid, he was going to get sick, he didn't get sick-- A memory came and left just as quickly, one of a worried and concerned face with warm words and one crappy ass broth. Shoulders dropped slightly and the dark haired head lowered, eyes closing as brows furrowed ever so slightly. It didn't matter if he had someone watching his back when he got sick, it was still a stupid thing to do, standing out in the rain without an umbrella or something. But the normally gruff and downright mean male couldn't bring himself to go back inside, to study or work out, to be anywhere near the goddamn phone that had just ruined his entire evening, possibly his week.
It always started simple enough, a hello, a stiff ask of 'how are you', a random babble of ignored details by both parties. Then the demands would start, comparing him to some neighborhood kid or whatever in the paper. Why wasn't his name in the paper? Was he just sitting on his ass up there? Why did he have to be such a useless lazy son of a bitch. Aries honestly didn't even know why his Dad had to call, why, just why. Out of the blue and for no reason other than to yell at him and remind him what a, and quote "Little worthless piece of shit, dragging his name through the mud, lazy bones poor excuse for a son." end quote, he was. He'd tried to teach himself to ignore the words, that it didn't hurt whatever the drunken ass said....no matter how much they really did. So now, here he was outside in the rain like an idiot hoping for the water to just wash away everything in his mind, to think of somewhere he could go and have it all just....disappear. To drive until he was out of gas, passing through place after place until they all blended together and nothing mattered anymore.
But in truth, there was only one place he wanted to go.
Cold fingers gripped the sleek helmet a little tighter as his throat worked through the odd tight ball in his chest. Past the denial he worked even himself into believing, that he didn't want--didn't need--comfort. That he wasn't upset and that he wasn't in pain. He'd cut his tongue out still before telling anybody but at least he could tell himself, because self denial was just pathetic. Besides, he was a smart guy; he could figure out an excuse quite easily if he really wanted too, even if the person he wanted to see was just as smart if not smarter. Mind made up the helmet was lowered onto the black rain plastered hair and the visor covered the pale face from the cold. Soon an engine was revved and tires squealed down the street, letting the fat droplets pelt his form and settle the chill in his bones as he made his way, splashing through puddles, to a large house where woods were plenty and people were not. Where a very eccentric, odd, and well loved person resided and he hoped wasn't asleep or absorbed in his work again. Because if he didn't answer the door, Aries didn't know what he'd do.
The trip blurred past and soon let him arrive at the safe haven he'd come to find the house to be. Motor cut and helmet secured on the bike he settled the plastic covering over the machine and turned away. Because if he had his way he wouldn't be returning to it until morning. Hands dangled loosely at his sides while his boots dragged quietly as he mounted the steps. Aries stood there silently a minute or two trying to shake his head out of the numb place it had settled and soon gave up the hopeless endeavor, ringing the doorbell. There was silence before barking and the sounds of Watson came, scratching at the door. Eyes closed briefly once more, a silent plea filling the void, Please, open the door...I need you. There was silence aside from the happy noises of the dog before footsteps and soon the lock turning and the door creaking, signaling it's opening. Warm light spilled out and illuminated what had previously been dark and the face of the person he'd come to see; Lincoln Foster. Teacher, friend and lover who was standing there in his too formal clothing with his too messy hair and the confused face he always got when he was looking at something confusing, mostly from pop culture. Aries could understand the confusion though, who expects their lover on their doorstep in the middle of the night soaking wet without warning? You know, when most sane people would be inside and staying warm; especially a health nut like Aries.
Watson was gently shooed back in the house to avoid the wet dog smell by gentle hands he knew the touch of very well, slightly rough from all the years of metal work and day to day life. And then brown eyes met his own once more, confused, concerned and searching his face for an answer as pale lips were still firmly shut. He was speaking, saying something but it wasn't registering and the silence made the worry in his brow grow, "...Aries--?" Something finally broke in the college student, his body suddenly springing to life making the man in front of him jolt in surprise. Cold fingers reaching and burying in the warm mess of dark hair as rain chilled lips slanted over warm chapped ones firmly. Eyes were shut and droplets of rain clung to his lashes as emotion flitted over his face before settling on something pleading and pain filled. He didn't care if Calvin was over, or if somebody else was in the house, or even if someone saw them period. He needed Lincoln now, needed his touch, his voice and his love. To bury himself in the warm arms for a change and just hide away for a bit until he could stand up on his own again. Slowly, the kiss turned gentle instead of the startling fierceness before it was broken. Remaining silent Aries kept his gaze to the ground as his forehead found Lincoln's finally becoming aware of the embrace they'd slid into. Lincoln's arms were around his soaked shoulders and neck with a hand in his water slicked hair. His body so much warmer than Aries's own a rather odd change from the norm but comforting none the less as they stood in silence.
Maybe one day he'd finally be able to tell Lincoln about it all, that whenever his father called it only ripped him apart for days, how the ragging and cruel unsatisfaction drove him insane and hurt even though he'd tried everything to stop caring, the way he sometimes got so sick of trying to be perfect and be the best to the point it physically hurt; even though he couldn't stop. About the way he was starting to fray at the edges, holding himself together with something that under the pressure he'd accepted as a day to day thing he feared would just break, and it would just all be over. But the day was not today, not tonight, but he hoped to god or any deity that gave a shit that the day would come and come soon. Aries knew he was a pain in the ass and a mean spirited guy to the point he chased everyone off before he even said hello; but he also knew Lincoln didn't scare easy, that he cared and would hopefully listen and do whatever he could to help.
Lincoln was speaking again and Aries finally rose his eyes to meet his lover's, his gaze pleading for silence, for no questions, for no words. He couldn't take them right now, didn't want to hear them, and somehow the older man understood. A second kiss came, so soft it made the ball in his chest ache and grow even tighter added with the soothing touch of a warm hand to his cheek. It wasn't until they were inside that Aries realized he was shivering, and a icy ache throbbing deep down in his bones compared to the toasty and cozy heat of the house. The student didn't even remember moving inside, he was dripping all over the floor as boots were removed and he was carefully lead to the bathroom. Wet things were taken off slowly while those hands skimmed his chilled skin lovingly, soothingly, comfortingly. Soon enough he was gently pushed into the hot water and Lincoln left him to bathe and warm up. Aries was known for his quick showers, practically military ones at five minutes tops. Tonight however he uncharacteristically stood under that steady stream of heat for a good fifteen minutes before he even moved to get clean. Reluctantly turning the water off after another ten minutes he snagged a towel and dried off slowly taking note his wet clothing was gone and a change of sweats were there instead. As they were Lincoln's they proved to be slightly snug but the familiar scent of cologne or aftershave--he'd never figured out which it was--and whatever detergent Lincoln used proved to be a soothing one. A balm to an open wound, though he'd much prefer the heady scent of coffee, machinery, the faint smell of nicotine and the cologne/aftershave blending with the scent Lincoln naturally had.
Exiting the bathroom with an escape of steam following him and a smaller towel around his shoulders, the baseball player looked around before following the quiet noises to the kitchen. Standing quietly in the doorway he looked up to see Lincoln setting a mug of something on the table still in his slightly damp clothing. The shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and the top shirt buttons were undone leaving skin to his view until it closed again at the top of the waistcoat. Brown met hazel in a quiet manner as Lincoln straightened, "....Hi." "...Hey..." There was an unspoken question in his lover's tone, 'Are you okay? What's wrong?' But at the lowering of the taller male's gaze the Genius simply walked over and lead Aries to a chair in front of the mug. "Feel better?" Came the tenative question and Aries could only give a half hearted shrug. He sat in silence before the towel was slowly and gently slid up to the top of his head as Lincoln simply started to carefully dry his hair, massaging his scalp along the way. They remained that way for awhile, even after his hair was dried, strong sure fingers continuing to rub away the tension in his scalp and temples making Aries's eyes slip to half lid. Slowly his shoulders relaxed and his eyes closed completely, ".....I'm sorry." His voice was so quiet he barely heard himself say it, but Lincoln did.
Fingers stopped before gently tipping Aries's head back to look deep brown into hazel, "For what?" His tone was so gentle it almost hurt to hear, "Barging in on you." Lincoln's expression contorted into something odd, something the surly adult couldn't name, something he'd never seen before. The smile was twisted and sad and his eyes were warm and gentle but his brow looked pained. He almost wanted to call it exasperated but there was something more to it, whatever it was he still couldn't put his finger on it. Hands gently rubbed at the tight tendons along the back of his neck before a kiss came to his hairline, "Drink your tea before it gets cold." It sounded like he wanted to say more but the hands were already tipping his head forward again before handing him the tea. The hot drink hit the pit of his gut and slowly seeped outward to chase the last remnants of cold from his bones while questing fingers skimmed over tense muscles. The drink was a calming sort, a brand he'd gotten the insomniac of a human-being himself and slowly he felt his eyes go to half lid a quiet weariness take over him. It didn't take much longer for drowsiness to follow and have him empty the mug and setting it down as Lincoln shifted to stand next to him and wrap an arm around his shoulders letting him bury his face in the other's waistcoat. There wasn't another sound aside from the ticking of Lincoln's watch in his ear and the storm outside as they stayed there in the embrace for a few long moments.
Being shooed to the bedroom came quickly after that, leaving Aries to curl up under the covers while waiting for Lincoln to clean up, who wouldn't let him wash the mug and probably just plopped it in the sink. Sighing quietly, Aries's head settled on the pillow, closing his eyes as he cool sheets warmed slowly to his body. There was a silence with only the rain on the roof before the physics teacher came in the room and changed quietly before slipping into the bed on his side. It was a little sad that in the few times they'd shared a bed they'd already designated who slept where and who got what pillow, like they were an old married couple or something....which really should not make him so warm and fuzzy deep down.... Sighing tiredly he shifted and let Lincoln pull him into his arms, being held for a change as they shifted to get comfortable on their sides and buried his face into the broad chest. Exhaling heavily he let his shoulders drop as they tangled together and Lincoln was skimming a hand over his back while the other one wrapped around before threading through his hair. He could feel his lips rest on the top of his head the goatee scratching gently at his scalp. Slowly, Aries let the phone call slip out of his mind, all of the cruel words following it as well. He tried to be perfect, to be the best, to be extraordinary every single day, holding himself to a standard that was both painful and impossible to reach. A standard he'd started trying to reach a really long time ago back when he was stupid and naive, that even if he was perfect his old man would just find one thing, one, and tear him down again. But here....
"Aries?" Blinking out of his thoughts and tilting his head up to meet concerned brown hues he couldn't help the small crooked smile that started to tug at his features; nor could he help letting it grow at the relief he saw on the other's face. Sliding up the well known body, the cradle turned to an embrace as lips came together tenderly and so goddamn sweet it made Aries's teeth hurt and the tightness in his chest spread. His own arms tightened their hold around Lincoln as workshop weathered hands carded through his hair and held him closer in return. The kiss deepened but never lost the slow and gentle force, until they broke apart for air and looked at each other. Lincoln pressing a kiss to his forehead as if it would iron out the small furrow that was still residing there. Closing his eyes he let his brow relax fully and allowed himself to sink into the warmth Lincoln was offering. Any remaining thoughts about his dad slipped away, because here, right goddamn here no matter how stupidly sappy and cliche it was; he was perfect, he was the best. But more than that, he was loved, the apple of someones eye, for once in his life...He was enough.
The stupid grin that came with the sudden tightness in his throat made him drop his head into the scientists neck to hide the embarrassing look as Lincoln held him tight, "Aries?" The concern was tangible, he really needed to cut the poor guy some slack, he'd get an ulcer like this. Clearing his throat with a weak chuckle he nuzzled the skin lightly, "I'll tell you one day. Just not tonight. So sorry to your curiosity but you'll have to wait." There was a moment of stillness before he felt the elder's shoulders relax. Aries bit back the urge to give a tight chuckle on how much he forgot Lincoln worried about him sometimes, the sheer amount he couldn't even comprehend. It didn't take long for his childish love to give a sulky retort "Awwww but I hate waiting." Tones were light and playful as Aries got a squeeze of a hug himself being silently told that it was okay, that he could wait, no matter how long it took. "Sucks for you then." Gratitude blossomed in his chest shoving the tight feeling aside as he got a hold of himself, because really crying just was not his style especially if it was those 'happy tears'. ....But if he had to he'd only do it in front of Lincoln once he'd made sure the man wasn't going to freak out or take pictures.
Giving a soft sigh like sound and shifting his head to rest his ear over the steady heartbeat Aries could feel under his fingers, he let his eyes close and a small smile toy at his mouth. He was grateful, content and he might as damn well say thank you now shouldn't he? But that would just make the sappy moment even sappier and Aries didn't know if he could take any more sweetness before his teeth rotted out. He could think of a better way to do it anyway, one he much preferred doing to be honest. A devious gleam sparked in his eye as he slipped the hand from the others chest, down his front before settling on his hip. While a leg nudged between Lincoln's and then at the last moment, the smile turned smirk before the leg ground up. He would never, ever, ever, tire of the way his breath caught or the way his heart thudded all the more strongly against his ear, "A-Aries we don't-" Grinding his leg up again he basked in the groan, turning his head to lay a few kisses up the column of the man's throat nipping now and again. "Lincoln." Rolling the older man onto his back moving to straddle his hips, Aries sat up to look down at him. "Trust me, I'm good." The tone was amused as he rolled his half hard arousal down drawing a groan out of the wild haired genius. Leaning down as he did it again he nipped at the other's ears and neck before claiming his mouth once more as a hand tangled in the so called 'blender head' hairstyle.
Aries was not under any delusion about Lincoln's age, he was well aware that the man needed a little help compared to himself who was in his prime. Breaking the kiss and giving one last roll downwards drawing a soft noise from someone-he couldn't tell-Aries worked his way down. Slipping the draw string pajama bottoms over the angular hip bones slowly, he grasped the other semi-hardness in his hand in a firm manner. Giving a slow lazy stroke he was forced to bite down a smirk on how Lincoln's hips rose to keep the contact. Then again when the male whined quietly when he took the hand away, or when he gave a choked noise when Aries closed his mouth around the head; because that was just golden. He sucked gently on the tip while a hand shifted to stroke the lower half, coaxing more of the intoxicating and familiar sounds from the man beneath him. Taking him further into his mouth and ignoring the sting of Lincoln gripping his hair out of surprise. Instead he worked his tongue along the ridges and folds of the hardening flesh as assortments of rather intriguing noises came from above him. Fingers skimmed lower teasing the sac below, which proved to be a rather bad idea as he forced himself not to choke when hips snapped up without warning; forcing a deep throat in a rather uncomfortable manner. Pulling off and tonguing the slit firmly he looked up to the glazed eyes that were looking with half concern, "S-sorry I-" Wrapping his calloused hands around the now slick flesh Aries leaned down and forced a firm kiss to Lincoln's mouth letting tongues slide against each other and the older male to taste his own pre-cum.
Giving a slow firm stroke brought another moan to fill his mouth before he pulled back and shifted his own pants down, settling his weight as he draped carefully over Lincoln and dropped his hips. The mix of sensations was lethal, being the shudder that went down his spine and the noise Lincoln made, it should be illegal to feel that good. It was certainly completely dizzying as it went straight southwards in an almost painful manner. Normally, he would of teased the old fashioned eccentric, tormented his senses and opened him up however he pleased until his pushy demands subsided into incoherent begging before taking him, making him shout obscenities and his name to kingdom come. The evenings events however, made him languid, not to mention the tea and just being tired in the first place. Lincoln didn't seem to mind simply rutting together though, far from it actually; if the sounds were anything to go by, Aries was pretty sure he'd live with the disappointment. They kept the slow pace, despite Lincoln's protests and fevered movements that he had to pin until the other calmed. Kisses came and went between the two, drawing noises from both parties until Lincoln was clawing at his back begging him to end it. Who was he to deny such a vision? Sweating, flushed and bright eyed pleading and teasing him until he gave in and ended their suffering. Well, hardly suffering for himself anyway...the sight of Lincoln beneath him, writhing and arching, gripping his arms like a life line as he came undone... It was quickly becoming his absolutely favorite sight in the entire universe if it wasn't already. They rocked together until the aftershocks left them both satisfied and boneless and laying next to each other in the quiet. Until Aries dragged himself from a dazed professor's arms and cleaned them both up and replaced pajama bottoms that is.
Laying on his back once more, Aries drew the sedated male into his arms wrapping them around him while Lincoln's head rested on his shoulder. He found himself content again as his breath fanned out gently over his collarbones. This felt more normal, more right as he rested his cheek in the tangled mess of hair inhaling the scent. Letting exhaustion creep up and start to pull on him as it did Lincoln the scratch of a beard on his skin drew his gaze downward where tired unfocused brown eyes stared up at him in a loving manner. Raising a brow in silent question Lincoln just once more pressed his warm mouth to Aries's own. The grouchy boy of a man couldn't help but smile, holding back a snort of amusement and cradle the back of his head. Kissing for a few long moments once more before Lincoln pulled back and with a languid cheeky grin resettled over his features "Always barge in Aries. Always." A soft snort came remembering his earlier apology as he rolled his eyes. It was all he could give in return without slipping back into the dark emotions as they curled up together, sleep slowly pulled them into a warm hold. But before he dropped off, Aries couldn't help the sincere warm smile that played on his mouth as he buried his face in Lincoln's hair. Sure, his dad was still an asshole, he always would be, but Lincoln still always always remind him not to listen to him. Maybe his week wasn't going to be completely ruined after all for a change. Eyes closing to the sound of the pouring rain on the roof and Lincoln's quiet snores the knot untied in his chest and the tightness disappeared. Relaxing and letting his body go still Aries slipped off into slumber having found peace, after all why wouldn't he?
He was home.
