Beat keeps his eyes locked on Kitaniji’s shades, waiting to see if he was planning on picking a fight. Sure, he’d been there when everything had gone down in the Room of Reckoning. He’d heard that Joshua had been the one to kill Neku. He’d heard that Kitaniji had been trying to stop Joshua’s fucked up plan.
But, Beat couldn’t forget how Uzuki and Kariya had looked with their eyes hazed over, attacking like their bodies didn’t belong to them anymore. He couldn’t forget the sight of the city slowly breaking down while the citizens froze in the streets and murmured the same creepy bullshit over and over again.
He doesn’t know what to expect from this guy, but watching him drink what Beat assumes is probably booze and complain about his seat definitely wasn’t even in the top five possibilities. Not even top twenty.
“Yeah, well….” Beat starts to say, then pauses as he tries to think of something to say that isn’t stupid. “I’m surprised you ain’t Noise Dust.
“And I didn’t see your name on the chair, man. There’s a whole ‘nother chair on the other side a’ this table.”
