“You can hate them too, if you want,” he said after a long stretch of quiet. “Hate them like they hate us. I wouldn’t blame you for it.” He paused again. “But you have to promise me- that you’ll always stop the wolves when they come. Out of the dark, scratching at the door. You can’t let them in. And it will be tempting, sometimes. I know it. We’ve all had the temptation - to just let nature take its course. Let the wolves feed.”
