August 10, 2024 - Large Gray Babbler (Argya malcolmi) Found in India, Pakistan, and Nepal, these birds in the laughingthrush family live in dry habitats with scrub, open woodlands, and cultivated areas. They primarily eat insects, along with some grain, seeds, and berries, foraging in groups of five to twelve, or sometimes up to 60 birds, on the ground and in low vegetation. Often breeding cooperatively, they build cup-shaped nests from grasses, roots, small twigs, and sometimes horsehair in bushes or small trees. Helpers may incubate the clutches of three to eight eggs and feed the chicks alongside both parents.
