From the bowels of the cavern across the current level echoed the hungered or angered growls of the beast lurking within.
A warning if ever there was one to retreat, which Mashu complied without hesitation. Not with a run, but a brisk jog; admitting to any fear which niggled away was a failure by her own judgement. She liked to deem it caution that she kept watch of the opening, not daring yet to let it vanish from her sight.
But fortunate that she paid enough attention ahead to avoid running over the edge.
Or crashing into the woman who appeared. A sudden appearance which had Mashu stumble to the side and twist clumsily in order to meet the arrival.
"Sorry! I’m sort of lost, and not sure how to travel back down. Might you know the area at all?”
