“Why the hell is everyone going on about...lip-punching? That’s just...kissing. Idiots.”
“First day of Autumn, huh? Guess that explains why it was so goddamn cold last night.”
hairbeat:
“Honestly though, I was excited about that Fight Club thing, but ‘only fists allowed’? Disgusting. I’ll have nothing to do with it.”
“Do you want people to fuckin’ die?”
“If anyone tries to punch me, I’m gonna kick the shit out of you.”

There were things Magilou understood. And then…there were elevators. Well it seemed easy enough, but no matter how many times she clicked the damn up button, it wasn’t working.
Hearing the door open behind her, she turned to her fellow apartment resident.
“Hey, the uh, thing. Is broken. I think. You wouldn’t happen to know how to fix this, would you?”
@ragnathebloodedges
He’d seen her around a couple of times before but...he didn’t talk to her. That was only natural. Why would he talk to someone he didn’t know? Especially with the mood he’d been in lately. Tired, angry, and, frankly, sad. He was ready to avoid the elevator entirely until she asked him for his help. Shoulders slumped in a slight sigh before he squinted at her.
“You have to wait for it to be summoned. It could be dropping other people off on the way down. Or you could just use the stairs if it’s not working. I’m sure they’ll fix it before long if there’s somethin’ wrong with it. Nothing stays broken for long here.”

Sometimes… she had to wonder why she always seemed to draw troublemakers. This extended, apparently, to her pets– or whatever her pokemon counted as. In this instance, it’s Feebas, slamming into the water with entirely too much force and soaking the person that had been peering at it in the fountain. To be fair, if she’d been called ugly, Ari would’ve done much worse. Maybe, anyway. Though she should probably interject, considering this guy looked like he was ready to use that sword of his.
“Uh… ‘scuse me, darlin’ but. Please don’t murder my fish.”
“Shit...!”
In all honesty, the exclamation was more one of surprise at feeling a cold splash against the leg of his pants than out of anger. Eyes flashed to the source of the flash only to see...probably the ugliest fish he’d ever seen in his life. Not that he’d necessarily seen a whole lot of fish but...that thing was pretty bad. Eyes narrowed sharply before he looked around, pausing when the woman walked up to him and spoke.
“You...” He paused slightly. He didn’t really catch any recognition in her eyes. Was that the work of the scientists too? Taking people’s memories away? It wasn’t as though they were close friends or anything...but she’d been there to talk to him when he’d gone to her bar a few months ago. Had so much really changed between now and then? It didn’t matter. “The hell is a fish doing out of water? That thing’s fuckin’ huge! You can’t just be walking it like a damn dog.”
“What I wanna know is where the hell all these people are gettin’ money to start businesses. Seems pretty damn shady to me.”

“Well, I don’t see how you do something like that in a place like this. Something is always happening here.”
“It’s...easier than I’d like to admit. Some people just get tired of this city and decide it’s best just to wait it out. Others lose people close to them and after that? Well...it’s hard to want to go on doin’ much without ‘em.” Perhaps he was speaking from experience. Perhaps he was just speaking from the standpoint that he’d seen people feel that way.
Nah. Definitely experience. “It’s easier to sit on your ass and wait to be taken home than you’d think.”
frostyheir:
“Maybe it would be best if I got a job…” She actually had a lot of secret skills. “Isn’t there a school here? I could teach something!”
“Whatever you feel is necessary to pass the time here. It’s better than sittin’ around and twiddling your thumbs.”

@ragnathebloodedges ❤ ‘d for a starter
Min-Seo believed one’s appearance spoke of their character. She tried not to rely on judgement of appearances too often, since it was a bit rude to live one’s life that way, but sometimes the looks of others perplexed her.
This was one of those times.
The other’s odd choice of clothing made her stare- just a little, but stare nonetheless. She peeled away her gaze, searching her brain for conversation topics. They were probably a nice enough person, just had a very specific aesthetic.
“Hi! Um… Do you like sweets?”
Had the girl been from his world, she might have been the wiser about just how dangerous he was. Or, at least, how dangerous everyone liked to say he was. He’d never been out to hurt innocent people. Nobody he’d sought to kill was innocent by any stretch of the imagination.
Two-toned eyes shifted sharply to the girl who approached him, eyes narrowing slowly for a moment. However, his expression softened slowly and he gave a sigh, turning his gaze away and furrowing his brow.
“Sorry. I...don’t really care much for sweet things. Besides, you’re barkin’ up the wrong tree if you’re lookin’ for someone to hang out with, you’d probably be better off askin’ somebody else. I’m not exactly friend material.”

There is a sense of… something about this man that Satsuki cannot quite grasp. It is not defeat, no– but there is a sense of loss, perhaps? Or simply exhaustion. She does not know his face well enough yet to be certain. What she does know is that the way his hand immediately drops to the hilt of his weapon belies protectiveness over it, a degree of attachment that it takes years indeed to obtain. But there is also a wariness of her, undoubtedly, as he stares her down as if trying to figure out what she could want from him by sight alone. She should not keep him waiting, in that case. “A gift for a job well-done, then.”
Her gaze sharpens, rising to the odd-colored eyes and one brow rising slowly, a certainty in her tone that she doesn’t entirely feel. But when has that ever stopped her? “Or perhaps, a legacy?” Pausing to measure how he reacts to that, she curls her fingers around the ‘hilt of one of her false weapons, straightening imperceptibly. “Regardless, I would request to match myself against you, if you are a swordsman of any skill. To assess how far I have fallen, with my descent into this city.”
What was her deal?
Eyes narrowed slowly, trying to gauge the question he posed to himself. He didn’t find the answer though. He wasn’t a terribly good judge of character but he could tell when someone wanted to fight. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up and rather than simply resting his palm upon the hilt of his sword, fingers slowly curled around it. She was grasping her own weapons...though he wasn’t entirely concerned with them considering they looked wooden.
Luckily, she answered his question without him having to ask it.
“The sword didn’t belong to my master. It belonged to a friend of his a long time ago. So, sure. A legacy.” He paused at her suggestion, slowly raising a brow once more and cocking his head to one side. “...I don’t think that’s a good idea. Considering you look fresh off the boat, I’m guessing you don’t even have a decent weapon handy. My sword would cut right through the wooden bullshit that they give you when you first get here. I’d say I could use my wooden sword but...I tossed that piece of shit away a long time ago.”

The number of people within the city that were openly armed was minimal for the size of the place– but still more than she was used to seeing. In particular, the sheer array of weapon types she’d seen in her brief tour of her current locale. Though she was keeping her area of inspection small for now, it was for the best until she figured out the workings of the city as a whole more thoroughly. However, even she could succumb to curiosity, especially when it came to strength. “Hoh…?” Long, purposeful strides carry her to intercept the man in red– a stark beacon already, even without the sword he carried or the aura she could sense coming from him. Yes, this would do nicely.
“Tell me,” she begins, and wishes she had Bakuzan proper to prop in front of her, “how long have you been wielding that sword?”
He’d already grown tired of this city. Not only was it missing the people he cared about but it was just...noisy as ever. He just wanted to go back to his apartment, curl up, and--
Oh, hell.
Eyes warily watched the girl step in front of him and plant herself in front of him...and ask him about his sword. Fingers instinctively moved back to press his palm into the hilt of the massive weapon, not threateningly but simply because she’d asked about it.
“It was given to me by my master after I finished training with him...so not as long as I’d like. But long enough that people should feel discouraged about fucking with me.” A brief pause, “Not that it stops them. Why the hell do you wanna know?”
“Halloween’s comin’ up soon, huh...? And Christmas not long after that. Goddamnit... This sucks.” He really didn’t want to admit how much he missed her. How badly he’d wanted to spend those kinds of holidays with her.
“This is such bullshit.”
