This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Ariana Grande is actually gonna do a good in Sunday. Like I don’t think it’s gonna be a life changing performance, but I could see her having a lot of fun, and providing a lot of charm to dot in the first act,
I get that it’s stunt casting, but we have seen so much worse, and honestly it’ll be nice seeing people introduced to Sunday bc of her.
I think this casting has a lot of potential, tbh I’m actually having a harder time seeing Bailey as George, but I think he’ll do a great job as well.
A popular name being cast in a Sondheim show is not the end of the world.’s I’m sure Stephen wouldn’t care about this… and even if he wouldn’t like it
A revival is meant to be a NEW representation of the show, and guess what, Grande and Bailey are gonna make it new. (And I think Sondheim loved when people interpreted his shows in new ways, e.g. the Sweeney movie)
