Hi Cass! I hope you're doing well! ☆ I just finished the DC rebirth issue of Detective Comics and I was curious to hear your thoughts on it! From what I understand, it ties in with Batman and Robin Eternal, which I didn't get around to reading but I think I get the gist of all that's going on. It's amazing to see Cass, Tim, and Steph crime fighting together! I'll give the series a chance. Nothing really turned me off except for Cass's vigilante name... "Orphan" is just unsettling.

Ahh I liked the issue! Aside from Cass STILL taking her abusive father’s name (ugh) and her costume (where are her EARS??), it was a great issue. I’m particularly interested in Clayface aka Basil. That’s a side of him I honestly never knew, and I’m quite fond of redemption arcs. I kinda hope Basil and Cass develop a sort of quiet understanding friendship, bonding over their “i was meant to be a monster” mentalities.

I can’t wait to read all about the adventures those kiddos are gonna have with Kate. And give me more Tim and Steph banter yess.

Top five fic recs!

Okay so these aren’t really 2015 because I actually didn’t read a lot of fic this year :|

This Is Totally How It Happened (RWBY) by SimplexityJane - because my god are Sunnybees fics difficult to find but I found this one around last year I think and it’s just very sweet little piece mostly told from Sun’s POV which is really fun reading and I will literally always go to this piece when I’m feeling the need to be Sunnybees trash.

The other side of sadness; (Spirited Away) by intrajanelle - I actually remember how this fic came about because there was a bit of Spirited Away posting going around and I remember Janelle deciding to respond to one of the posts by writing a Spirited Away closure fic and the result was this darling fic that she wrote that made me instantly trash for Chihiro and Hake all over again and honestly I mean come on who doesn’t want closure for that movie anyway?

Broken Arrows and Bedside Promises (Arrowfam) by kat8cha - There are not enough goddamn arrowfam fics. I will always cite this Cry For Justice fixit fic however when I bring up arrowfam fics because it’s just such a satisfying and soul-mending fic to read when you’re struggling with DC’s bullshit decisions.

Day by Day (Young Justice) by chaotic-melody - Elena might yell at me for this but I don’t care I love this monster of a fic. There have been so many ‘during the timeskip’ fics written but I love this one so much because even though it’s Gar-focused it still touches on so many aspects of the his and team’s growth over the years and it’s just a wonderful long character development piece.
