Marina T.S. Eliot & McKnight Kauffer The 3 colour lithograph for Eliot's poem for no 29 of the Ariel Poems. The Ariel Poems were published by Faber between 1927-31. Commissioned by Richard de la Mere, and printed at Curwen, for whom Harold Curwen recommended many of the illustrators. Ariel Poem no 15 Edward Bawden This is from Bawden's illustration for Edith Sitwell's Popular Song. Faber (then Faber and Gwyer) issued a series of 38 booklets between 1927 & 1931, each featuring. Single poem and illustrated by the cream of modernist illustrators, Nash, McKnight Kauffer, Ravilious, all the favourites. They were all beautifully printed at the Curwen Press.
