The following is a new Race Trait that is available to elves in the Reeftide game. You were born simultaneously with another elven child in the community, and the two of you were declared to be fated friends. You were allowed to grow up together and never forced to spend time apart from one another, even to the detriment of your duties. As a result, your bond is so strong that you and your ariimus can communicate a series of complex concepts to each other with a mere glance, you can generally "feel" which direction she is relative to you, and you can make astonishingly accurate guesses about her current physical and emotional state. By taking a move action and succeeding a DC 15 Sense Motive check, a character can use one of the applications described below. Players may always take 10 on these checks (assuming they are not rushed or threatened), but doing so requires that they use a standard action. Communication: The character can receive the equivalent of three sentences of information from his ariimus. This application ceases to function if one of the ariimus is unconscious, dead, or otherwise unable to make or see minute changes of expression (such as losing line of sight). Once one ariimus initiates the communication (by taking a move action and succeeding the Sense Motive check), the other may issue a single, three-sentence response as an immediate action (assuming she succeeds the check). A pair of ariimus that both use this application before using the Aid Another action gain an additional +1, provided that no one else tries to aid them (and thereby gets in the way of the ariimus' amazing nonverbal coordination). Sense Direction: The character can feel which direction his ariimus is in. This sense is entirely general, a vague "she's that way" feeling. This application has no maximum range, but does not function between planes. This application works even after the death of an ariimus, though the Sense Motive DC rises by +2 for every 24 hours that passes since the ariimus died. Sense Condition: If successful, the character can feel his ariimus' current physical and mental condition (i.e. "She is wounded in the right side but is not in serious danger from his wounds. However, She is currently Stunned and fears for his life."). This application can only receive information that the targeted ariimus knows herself. If used on a corpse, there is no answer. This application has no maximum co-planar range.
