On My Mind // Arista & James
It had been difficult for James to concentrate throughout the week, given the way things had panned out since the match against Slytherin. His relationship with Alex was in disrepair, which left James feeling unsettled. Without his best friend to sit next to in lessons, he’d taken to making a point to sit next to Fred. Still, things were lonely, and with Alex within speaking distance in every class, well--- What few notes he had taken were scattered and befuddled.
He counted his blessings that he didn’t share lessons with Arista, who had been on his mind nearly as much as Alex had, even in her absence. He felt embarrassed. What sane girl would look at him the same way after the match had gone awry? And to think, he had kissed her before--
Before all hopes of a romantic reunion had been dashed. But he couldn’t stay away for long. By the time the next week rolled around, James carried more guilt in his gut over the lack of contact with Arista than he did over the match being lost. So, in a break between lessons that he normally spent with Alex, James put away his chocolate frog cards and sought the girl out, hoping it would alleviate at least some of the anxiety his heart seemed to be stumbled under.
