Aristaloe aristata
This plant, native to colder parts of South Africa and also neighboring Lesotho, was long called simply Aloe aristata. However, DNA evidence shows it to be genetically distinct, so it has been given its own genus - Aristaloe. Its rosettes of leaves show a considerable resemblance to some species in the genus Haworthia, and it is possible that it actually descends from a long-ago hybrid between an Aloe and a Haworthia. If this is so, it long ago stabilized and became a species, since it consistently breeds true to type.
