Test-Guided Code Generation

or: AIs Writing Code

One of the things that really thorough tests do - I'm talking the kind of fuzzed tests where the fuzzing definition actually tests all desired behavior - is they open the door to replacing more and more manual software developer labor with code generation.

Now of course truly dumb brute force couldn't generate valid code very quickly. Even the cleverness encoded in good fuzzers like AFL++, if abused for code generation, takes a while to generate the most minimal syntactically valid code for a language from nothing.

But generating text that correctly follows patterns is a problem that AI is getting really good at solving. Text prediction engines can do amazing things these days.

So we're getting really close to a world where if you can define good enough tests, which cover enough of the behavior, you can have actual implementation code generated for you. For example, if you write an encoder and a single fuzzed test that any data fed through the encoder and then the decoder should come out unchanged, that's all you need for the decoder to be generated automatically.

Within our lifetimes, we will see software developer jobs move from "write code that does the thing (and write test cases to verify that your code does the thing)" to just "write test cases to verify that code does the thing (and write code for just the simplest minimum of the thing so that the AI has precise enough tests)".

Future of Artificial Intelligence

1) What is Artificial Intelligence?

In 1950s, Marvin Minsky and John McCarthy defined Artificial Intelligence as any task performed by a program or a machine that, if a human carried out the same activity, we would say the human had to apply intelligence to accomplish the task. Human are the most intelligent creatures we know off. The aim is to develop a system that can work Smartly and Freely. So we can say that AI is a system which enables machines to imitate human behavior and makes us wonder by its amazing intelligence and makes us think it is alive.

There are three type of Artificial Intelligence.

1. Artificial Narrow Intelligence (Narrow AI)

Artificial Narrow Intelligence also known as weak AI, it was the first artificial intelligence which emerged way before than other types of artificial intelligence. It a basic concept of artificial intelligence. Narrow AI refers to a ability of a computer performing a single task with smartness such as playing chess. Artificial Narrow Intelligence has number of useful applications, and is becoming more popular in our day to day life. Examples Speech Recognition (can only recognize speech ) Voice Assistants i.e Cortana, Alexa  (act upon voice commands which perform a certain action).

2. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

Artificial General Intelligence also known as strong AI, AGI system can perform any intellectual task that a human is capable of. It could be used do various task and it can also learn and improve itself. It intelligence is similar to the human brain. To perform different task it can learn and improve it self. Example Alpha Go, though only able to play Go, but its intelligence could be applied in various other fields.

3. Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI)

Artificial Super Intelligence also known as super strong AI, ASI is a form of intelligence which far more greater and refined than a humans intelligence. ASI can exceed human intelligence. It can think about ideas which are not possible for humans to think. A documents say, Artificial Super Intelligence is a term referring to the time when the capability of computers will surpass humans. Artificial Intelligence, which has been much used since the 1970s, refers to the ability of computers to mimic human thought. Artificial Super Intelligence goes a step beyond, and posits a world in which a computers cognitive ability is superior to a humans

The Future of Artificial Intelligence

All the major organization will make use of AI in the future to improve their productivity. Tech companies like Apple, Google and Facebook have already climbed on the trend of AI. There are fascinating controversies where the world’s leading experts disagree, such as AI’s future impact on the job market when human-level AI will be developed whether this will lead to an intelligence explosion and whether this is something we should welcome or fear.Most of the smart people think developing artificial intelligence to human level is a dangerous thing to do.

There will be additional numbers of smart cities as vehicles, phones, home appliances are going to be run by AI. The dangerous job like bomb deactivation, welding, etc will be done by Robots. AI can create new career paths in the field of ML (machine learning), Data mining, and analysis. The demand for AI certified Professionals will grow along with the developments of AI. Learning AI will give you an edge over other IT professionals as AI is the future of IT. Basically the future of AI seems too large to understand. But there is no denying the opportunities AI can open for those who invest in it.
