"What you have discovered, if it has a name.....is some Green". Strolling through the peculiar Tolkeinesque Ariundle Oakwood yesterday - a National Nature Reserve where moss is king!

When you visit the Celtic rainforest you expect it to be wet, don't you? Well it was! Join me for a very wet walk through a peculiar, very green remnant of moss-drenched Atlantic oak woodland in soggy Sunart.
I was so taken by Ariundle Oakwoods earlier this week that I went back today for a more thorough explore. A five hour explore in fact! This bizarre place is where the lower plants (the lichens, mosses and liverworts) rule supreme....and as a result parts of the reserve have a weird 1950s sci-fi appearance. Just amazing.
