Mr. Wm. Janes Tells Magistrate About the Trouble With Drunken Findlanders in South Lorrain
----
Fred Manor, Jack Ranta, Chas. Hill, and Constant Hill, the four Finlanders arrested in South Lorrain by Provincial officers Mackay and Murray after the disturbance at the Flynn mine, appeared in the Provincial court yesterday and were remanded until this afternoon. It is not thought probable that the witnesses will be here on time and another remand will be made until Monday. August Anala was arrested In court at the request of Mr. Janes, the mine foreman, charged with using threats towards him. He with Charlie Hill were allowed out on their own bail. The other three were sent back to the cells, bail being refused.
He claims that one of the men came at him with a knife and threatened to kill him unless he cashed a time check presented. Janes pulled a gun to protect himself. Two others brandished knives and a number assembled on the road to the mine and prevented the new cook and teamster from going to the property by a show of firearms. The men appeared to be in a very ugly temper and until their arrest the district was terrorized.
