Introduced in the "United" portion of the Legacy toyline, Armorizers are all rocky themed robots that transform into rock encrusted vehicles. Playing with the multiversal aspect of the Legacy toyline, they're described as hailing from the "Infernac" universe, that being a play on the other Hasbro property, Inhumanoids, Infernac being the subteranean realm the villain Metlar resides in. In Japanese contexts, "Infernac" is stated to be the race of the Armorizers.
Additionally, a few of the Armorizers are comprised of franchise elements. Shard is described as being "Death Crystals," Nucleous is described as being "Nucleon," and Calcitron being aligned continuity inspired blue Energon.
Toy designer Mark Maher described them as not being "Sparked" like traditional Transformers.
