To kick off Women’s History Month here’s a look at Shinique Smith’s mosaic collage, made up of cast-off materials from the surrounding community, at Mother Clara Hale Bus Depot in Harlem. Inspired by Clara Hale, a humanitarian who helped transform the lives for orphaned and sick children for more than 50 years, Smith said “We are all connected by childhood dreams and memories threaded through clothing and the things we consume and discard.”
