@ everyone who's commented on the aro post - i appreciate all of you so much and i'm so happy you liked and/or related to it! i like exploring the way how donnie being aro can impact the way he might see himself and how he sees his relationships with other people, especially as he's growing up and is both a) seeing the people he's closest to begin to form relationships he can't find himself doing and b) learning how to let down the emotional barriers he's kept up for so long. like, donnie's slowly starting to become comfortable again with giving/receiving care and appreciation for/from his family without needing to hide behind snark and flamboyancy, but at the same time, everyone else is starting to become more interested in forming romantic relationships instead of sticking to the platonic/familial relationships donnie's always been used to. just idk i like exploring the implications of him seemingly needing to "catch up" with his family (as we've seen in witchtown) but in a different way lol

also i love how donnie and april are so close...which is why i gave donnie the feeling that can come by when you're aro but your best friend isn't - the anticipatory loneliness that comes with recognizing that, one day, he might not be as important to her anymore when, to him, she's always going to be. fun to think about that, yknow?
