Questioning?

Is there an aroallo polyam middle ground where it's just friends who enjoy eachother in a..."nonplatonic" way? like my brain already thinks of "nonplatonic" things as friendly in nature but figuring out whether that kind of relationship would work gets kinda tricky when the issues people talk about in polyamorous relationships mainly revolve around the romance of it all.

Like, I never saw romantic relationships as having 1 special person to intertwine my entire life with. I was never put off by romance, because i didn't understand it. I simply thought of couples as friends who friend-date.

And because I lack the part of my brain that's meant to form romantic bonds, polyamory, for me, doesn't look like investing copious amounts of time and energy into multiple relationships, it just looks like having multiple friends, which ?? there's still a level of commitment shared between friends ?? you guys still put in a certain amount of effort to maintain your relationships, right ?? I'm not trying to evade responsibility, I just never understood why or how romantic relationships had to have their own special kind of attachment.

like yes I love you very much and you are special to me and I wanna do things with you but also if you don't wanna talk to anyone for a month or a year I won't mind . that doesn't stain our relationship, I'll still wave at you on my way to the gas station but after that I'll leave you alone and try to let you unwind .
