This Slow Cooker Apple Butter recipe yields a rich, velvety spread with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. It's incredibly easy to make and fills your home with the irresistible aroma of apples and spices as it cooks slowly to perfection.
Ingredients: 5 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and sliced. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 cup packed brown sugar. 1 tbsp ground cinnamon. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/4 tsp ground cloves. 1/4 tsp salt.
Instructions: Put apple slices in a slow cooker. In a different bowl, mix the salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and sugar together. Put on top of the apples and mix to coat. Put the lid on top and cook on low for 10 hours, stirring every now and then. If you want to make it smooth, use an immersion blender after 10 hours. You could also add the mixture to a blender in small amounts and blend until smooth. Leave the lid off and cook on low for another two hours, stirring every now and then, until the apple butter gets thicker. Once the apple butter reaches the consistency you want, let it cool completely before putting it in jars or other containers to store. Put it in the fridge for up to two weeks or freeze it to keep it longer.
