I’m looking back after reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for like the millionth time… and I couldn’t help but notice how everyone just collectively seems to be into Professor Aronnax

Lets talk Conseil first. My man would do ANYTHING for Aronnax with no hesitation. Yeah maybe he’s just loyal but…let me just get some lines from the book that are kinda crazy….let me..find some lines. Here is one from “accident or incident”

“I seized Conseil's hand. Our looks expressed our feelings better than words.”

ugh how sweet! And Conseil would literally do ANYTHING for Aronnax. Like here’s some other lines.

“‘Oh, if only I didn't have to breathe, to leave more air for Master!’It brought tears to my eyes to hear him say these words.” My sweet baby, no one deserves a man like Conseil. But then again it could just be Conseil has some tough loyalty. But he did jump into cold water to save his “master” he’d probably take a bullet for Aronnax. Like I said, he could be loyal BUT, he seems quietly and hopelessly in love.

ok ok, now let’s talk about Ned Land, because the first few lines we hear about Land was, something.

“To say Canadian is to say French, and as unsociable as Ned Land was, I must admit he took a definite liking to me. No doubt it was my nationality that attracted him.”

“Took a certain liking to me” ok Ned, I see you, I see you 👀

The first words I pronounced were words of appreciation and gratitude to my two companions. Ned and Conseil had kept me alive during the final hours of our long death throes. But no expression of thanks could repay them fully for such devotion."Good lord, Professor," Ned Land answered me, "don't mention it! What did we do that's so praiseworthy? Not a thing. It was a question of simple arithmetic. Your life is worth more than ours. So we had to save it."

Now the moment you have been waiting for, Captain Nemo! Buckle in! This will take a while!

first thing is that Nemo immediately seems to admire Aronnax because Aronnax wrote his favorite book, and then he separates him from Ned and Conseil by making Ned and Conseil leave to get some food, but for aronnax he lets him eat breakfast with him. Like, whaaa?? oh and he gives Aronnax the nice room, connect to his room. Hmm..ok, ok.

Then they have another breakfast date before they head to the under water forest. Let me read them lines.

“‘Professor Aronnax,’ the captain told me, ‘I beg you to share my breakfast without formality. We can chat while we eat.’”

Already Nemo is like, yeah..screw having a professional relationship! He wants to..get up and personal..wink wink

here is another thing: this happened after the Nautilus crashed in chapter “Torres strait.”

“‘No, professor Aronnax. The Nautilus isn’t consigned to the perdition. It will still carry you through the midst of the oceans wonders. Our voyage

is just beginning, and I’ve no desire to deprive myself so soon of the pleasure of your company’”

You are not clever at ALL Nemo. Like. Say you want this man in your bed. Please!

ok! The whole ass Atlantis scene. That was, insane! It also happened after the two got into an argument. Basically Aronnax learned how much money Nemo has and thought the money to be useless, but Nemo mad about it. Then the next chapter took Aronnax to fucking Atlantis. Alone mind you.

“I saw neither my companions nor any of the crewman would be coming with us on this excursion. Captain Nemo didn’t hadn’t even suggested the fetching of my Ned or Conseil.”

hmm….just them two. Okay…okay.

Fast forward a bit. Aronnax is seeing cool shit.

“‘what an experience!” I exclaimed….. ‘and why must we be reduced to preserving it as only a memory?’” ‘Would you like,’ Captain Nemo asked me, ‘to bring more than just a memory?’”

and then Nemo has his crew take a picture just for Aronnax. Oh Nemo. You are. Truly amazing to this man when you’re not being an asshole.

ok ok! This one! This was when! Basically they get trapped in ice, let me show you.

“‘I think as you do, professor Aronnax,’ Captain Nemo replied. ‘I’ll only point out that after raising so many objections against my plan, you’re now crushing me under arguments in its favor., Captain nemo was right! I was outdoing him daring! I was sweeping him to the pole! I was leading the way! I was in the front…but oh no, you silly fool! Captain Nemo already knew the pros and cons of this question , and it amused him to see you flying off into impossible fantasies”

if that’s not flirting. Than what is?!!!

It's been a while since I've written something,so here's my contribution to TKLUTSCEMBER!

Day 2-First Kiss

The jellyfish danced upon the darkness of the depths.Shining, pulsating like angels of the sea.Pierre watched the bioluminescent ballet with immense admiration, his eyes gleaming beneath his glasses.For a moment, he allowed himself to breathe, after all the turbulence of the last few days.

Then he heard the captain's quiet footsteps entering the library.Pierre tilted his head slightly,just to see him out of the corner of his eye.He always stood upright, with a confident posture; but the deep dark circles under his eyes said it all.He was exhausted.

"Hello, professor." He greeted, his voice almost coming out as a sigh. "May I join you?"

"Of course." He replied, unable to suppress a smile.

He nearly collapsed into the armchair across the table, adjusting himself and looking at the jellyfish outside.This time, Pierre stopped looking, glancing sideways at the captain.He pictured every detail of him in his head: the tense muscles, the restless hands, the weary look, the way his hair seemed disheveled...Whichever god sculpted him,surely it must have envied its own creation.

"The man you tried to save..." The captain began, his voice surrendering this weariness. "He was one of the first crew members. He was our engineer,but then the Nautilus started to shake and he hit his head on the railing...I still haven't been able to accept his death."

He sighed deeply,his shoulders finally slumping.Pierre now looked at him with compassion and pain—he knew what it felt like to lose a loved one,and he had never seen the captain so vulnerable as in those last few days.

"It wasn't your fault, Captain. I understand how difficult it is to deal with grief." The professor said softly "I'm here for whatever you need."

"Your company already brings me great joy, professor."

Pierre swore to himself that he wouldn't blush at that moment, but his face betrayed him.The answer was so simple, yet so profound at the same time. His words carried a hidden affection within his heart, guarded through those enchanting eyes that now gazed intently at him.

"I think I'd better retire, it's almost bedtime." Nemo murmured, standing up abruptly.

"Wait-" Pierre stood up, his hand rising almost to touch his arm. He froze, seeing that the captain had stopped right in front of him, waiting for him to speak.

The silence was so loud he could hear their heavy breathings synchronized.Nemo's eyes spoke louder than words, and he felt each one of them in his dark irises.In a matter of seconds, Pierre was cupping his face and pressing his lips to his.

Nemo staggered slightly from the unexpected force, but just as his hands were reaching for the other's back,Pierre pulled away, his eyes wide with shame and fear.

"I- I sincerely apologize!I don't know what came over me, I'm sor-" He began to babble, going backwards.

"There's no need for that." Nemo took a step forward, one of his hands going to the other's chin, lifting his face.

This time, he was the one who didn't wait to kiss, capturing his lips as Pierre let out a whine of surprise.It was deep, it was long, it was like diving headfirst into the darkness of the ocean.

When they both pulled away, Pierre's lips and face were even rosier.The captain gave a glimpse of a smirk to him,letting go of the hand that had moved down to the nape of his neck.

"Goodnight, professor." He whispered,his voice softened as he kept his eyes fixed on him, turning away.

Pierre could only murmur a weak goodnight, touching his own lips.
