Fire and Lightning 🔥⚡
Another new print, this time featuring our original characters, Chen and Ignis!
Much like our new HK print, this art started life as an art fight piece (two actually!) and we cleaned and updated it into what it is now!
This is my take on a humanoid version of the Arrachen, a skeleton/wolf creature that lives in and creates storms. The creature is unique to Kara's and my Original Universe: Sonariverse, and is commonly found with the Ignitsune, in a fairy tale told by the characters native to that world.
Originally, this was inspired by a prompt from Kara's Monster-May, and we offered to art-trade concepts since we both like drawing creatures and the like. My prompt and directions from her were as follows: Demon + Vox, an OC of hers that we typically compare to the Arrachen as they share the same universe. So, of course, with those vague guidelines, I went on to make this!
I had SO MUCH FUN drawing this. It's been a few years since I put in the effort to draw a skeleton, and it was really cathartic to just let my hand do whatever it wanted (as you can see, there's a lot of scribbles XD). My favorite part is definitely the upper body, with the lightning rib-cage and the glowing eyes.

Goretober 2019: Visions
Another quick goretober piece although, this one is more trippy and weird than gory. This time featuring my boy Chen! Trying to play a bit of catch up <3
The Arrachen otherwise known as "The Storm Hound" is a mythical beast, with varying stories in folklore from different countries. Storm hounds have three forms, ranging from "Human" to "Hound" and a "Demon" in between. While the parts of a storm hound that appear skeletal may change, they will ALWAYS have at least part of their skulls exposed. Some parts of their skeleton are fully exposed and can even be touched, and others merely visible through the elemental energy that composes their bodies. They are creatures which are purely magical in nature, and do not require standard food and sleep to exist. This form in particular is often used for travel by Chen's people. It's easier to learn to fly as they grow up in this form rather than the humanoid one. It's often seen as "improper" to use this form for anything other than travel or combat, as most other forms of magic can be conducted just fine in the bipedal state. Children are also known to play often in their animal form, which adds to the stigma somewhat. This ref in particular only applies to the prince there! Others of his species will vary some in color and feature <: but I haven't gotten to designing the others yet. Please do not use my characters, designs, or species for any reason, thank you!
For anyone curious, here's Chen's normal humanoid form! Still need to sketch up a proper one for the doggo version cause I've changed it in like, every picture, but aaaayyyyy! I’ll probably post an updated version when I do finish that though <3 Chen -- short for Arrachen-- is a nameless prince from a myth in Ziel and Vox’s universe. The name Arrachen refers to his race, also called Storm Hounds as mentioned in some previous posts <3
