Found this early 2000s Art Asylum Dracula figure in a discount bin today. A nice addition.

This post is especially for @anaid-queen who asked about the different Star Trek toylines. I’m comparing Playmates Toys, Mezco Toyz, Diamond Select Toys/Art Asylum and McFarlane Toys. As you can see, the Playmates Kirk is much smaller, has shiny plastic and not many joints, so is very stiff and not very poseable. The face is cute but not realistic.

Second is the Mezco Toyz Kirk. His face is very realistic and he comes with several hands for changing and his communicator even opens and closes. Also he wears real clothes and you can take the shirt off if you want him with naked chest. The joints are a bit fragile though so I haven’t dared posing him much. He is more like the 1:6 range and therefore more expensive. While the DST and McFarlane go for around 25-30 Dollars, Mezco goes for 70-80 Dollars. Also sadly, we only got Kirk, Spock, two Spock variants (Mirror and The Cage) and Sulu. No Bones yet and it looks like we won’t get more so the line is incomplete. They took over from Art Asylum, so you can search for both terms. They’re more than 10 years old so while they have more joints, Kirk is still stiff in the hips and can’t do the splits. You can get Kirk (and other figures) in many different variants - green shirt, bloody face, Mirror uniforms and red movie uniforms. I also have other movie figures like Spock in his white tunic or the grey uniforms from the motion picture. Some of these are rare convention exclusives, I paid 150 Dollars for Bones in Wrath of Khan uniform. Just so you know what you are getting into on the secondary market. The regular TOS uniforms came out in new two-packs when I started my collection (about two years ago) so should still be not too expensive. Then there is also the Star Trek Select line, for example Spock with Horta and Kirk with Enterprise console defeating Khan. They are a mixture of statues and figures. Rather than joints, they come with legs for switching. People used to complain about other McFarlane toys for the lack of joints but I have no complaints about Kirk. Only downside is that it might take years to collect all the figures at the rate they are coming out. Final pictures compare legs and hands between Diamond Select Toys and McFarlane.
