LH Horton Jr Gallery - Visions In Clay 2022

Visions In Clay is one of the largest exhibitions of ceramic works in Northern California. The Call for Entries is open to artists residing in the U.S. Ceramic works of any thematic and stylistic presentation is accepted for entry. Clay must be the primary medium. Works may be functional or sculptural. Assembled works may not exceed 4ft. in any dimension. This year's Exhibition Juror is Rachel Gotlieb, Curator of Ceramic Arts, Crocker Art Museum. Colors of Humanity Art Gallery "Landscapes" Call for Entry - Online Art Show

THEME - According to Webster Dictionary, the definition of landscape is: “Land´scape n. 1. A portion of land or territory which the eye can comprehend in a single view, including all the objects it contains. 2. A picture representing a scene by land or sea, actual or fancied, the chief subject being the general aspect of nature, as fields, hills, forests, water, etc. 3. The pictorial aspect of a country." It can be expressed many ways and we look forward to seeing your interpretation. PAY IT FORWARD - We will be donating 10% of all entry fees from this show to the Global Food Initiative. GFI assists hungry people in developing food security. GFI has raised over $8,000,000 for community development projects in numerous countries around the globe. National Women's Caucus for Art - Occupy The Moment, Intersect History with Impact

In the last half century, the art historical canon has been uprooted and redefined. The canon was erected on categorized colonial narratives and invented racial rankings. The WCA has cast aside this “white male gaze” to define our own vision. This National WCA 50th Anniversary exhibition is seeking artistic works that address this moment of 2022. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly, considering the multiple paths of how we arrived here and what we envision moving forward. We encourage art that explores the ways that our identities and expressions intersect with such factors as environment, culture, time, and location. Artwork can be in any approach and form, subjects may range from the historic precedents set by political activism, to personal transformation, social engagement and beyond. JUROR: Dr. Maura Reilly, Founding Curator of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum.

PH21 Gallery – Call for Entries: Significant Colour

A curated international photography exhibition. October 21 – November 13, 2021. There are two kinds of photographs with respect to the significance of their use of colours. On the one hand, ever since colour film technology became widely available, colour has become the default in most photographic practices. That is, some photographs are in colour not because their colours bear some special significance (compared, for instance, to their possible black and white counterparts) but simply because the available film or digital technology has long turned colour to be the common method of capturing photographic images. We may think of these photographs as colour by default. On the other hand, colours are often central to the meaning of photographs for their emphatic, symbolic, psychological, social, compositional, etc. significance. These photographs would not work in black and white the same way or they would not work at all; that they are in colour is not merely a technological given.

THEME- "Yellow" This primary color is often associated with happiness, spontaneity, amusement, gentleness, but also with envy, jealousy, and cowardice. In Iran it has connotations of sickness, but also wisdom. Yellow symbolizes many things and has different meanings in different cultures.
