How to Stay Innovative When You Feel Like "I Wanted to Go Home Yesterday"
Just like most of you all, I get into a funk at times and feel like the last thing on my mind is work.
Something I learned that helps me to leave my personal problems at the door when I get ready to see my kids, is that at least one of them will say/do something that will make me laugh and forget everything. They are the light of my life, simply because they’re full of life and keep me on my toes.
As far as staying creative and motivated is concerned, I found that channeling whatever I’m feeling into my art has proven to not only create pretty amazing pieces, it gave me a secret way to speak my mind without saying a single word. It’s extremely therapeutic, and I try to pass this gem along to my kids.
It’s OK to be human for a minute and get into a mood. Use it as fuel instead of a crutch.
Spring semester is the busiest time of the academic year. Spring semester is the time to get your kids ready for college auditions, auditions for selective arts programs, and encouraging them to attend summer art camps. Also, if you plan on instructing in the summer, this is the time to brainstorm programs and build lesson plans. So to every Art Educator out there, it's time to be amazing!
