When you are looking in from the outside, you think being [an artist] means you get to spend all day in a studio just [making], you'll have time to explore ideas, and it's easy to focus because you have total freedom and solitude. But that's simply not true. There is so much that must be done and only a small portion of it is [making]. This means when you are [making], you need to be "on", making the most of that time. This requires three things: 1) You must care for your creative spirit so it is healthy; 2) You need to know what you don't have time for. For example, I pay someone to clean my house and studio. It's a small expense for the time it affords me; 3) You must batch your tasks.
