How do you get the proportions for the Homestuck artstyle so perfect?
Made a quick messy tutorial heh.
You need to learn perspective and anatomy because it's important for the style.
The style is heavily reliant on perspective to make it look as cool as it is, for it's mainly used for action scenes. That's why the regular style has their limbs just look like limp noodles in casual character interactions.
As for the anatomy, its the placement of the limbs and how long does the proportions have to look. They don't have to be the same but it is important together with the perspective to fool your eyes and make it even cooler.
If you don't have to restrict yourselves in the rules of the style, you could also have them cool boot legs mixed with the limb noodle style. All you need is and draw it a lot! Art takes time and practice makes you better, not perfect, and that's okay. :]
(Might make a better tutorial soon lol that's really messy XP)
Decided to make a lil tutorial on how I draw(traditional art) in case anyone wants it :D
Step 1
just draw a basic circle for the head, then add the lines of symmetry to get a good idea where the eyes, nose, and ears will go
Step 1.5 (optional)
This part is optional, but I typically draw the facial features and ears before i start on the body! I'm not sure why but it just feels right
The eyes are sort of oval shaped, but aren't connected, then add a smaller oval inside for the pupil
Step 2
Next, draw the neck and shoulders! The shoulders depend on the pose, but I typically put them pointing downwards in a sort of calm/lazy pose!
Step 3
Next step is to draw the torso! The torso can vary, it depends on the body shape of the character, but for the most part I draw it like the image above
Step 4
Next draw the hips! It's similar to the shoulders, two lines pointing down, but then add curved lines to figure out where the legs will go
Step 5
Next, draw the legs! Again, this can vary depending on the characters body shape, but typically I draw the thighs pointing straight or slightly inwards, then make the legs get bigger as they go down! The feet depend on the shape of the characters shoe/foot, but typically I draw pointed feet
Step 6
Then, add arms/hands! This step is probably one of the easiest(besides the hands) and the arms can vary in length and width(again, it depends on the characters body shape)
Finally, add all the details! Hair, scars, clothes, whatever the character your trying to draw has!
And that was a step by step tutorial on my art style :D
Waiting for the bus, Study for a new art style :D

Tutorial project
Okay, so along with little tid bits of personal experience, I'm prepping to do reviews on art supplies I actually use and stuff like that, but I'm also going to start making drafts of tutorial sheets that will hopefully aid in helping people find their own style of art instead of copying off of someone else, so look forward to that coming soon!
