Celebrating Día de Muertos with Elexia de la Parra

Growing up in Tijuana, Elexia de la Parra was mesmerized by the crafts at local Mexican markets. For the past eight years, she’s owned Artelexia (@ artelexia), a shop in San Diego, California, that specializes in handcrafted Mexican gifts, art and decor.
In preparation for Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, she stocked up on the staples: sugar skulls, flowers and candles. But the heart of this holiday is respect. “It’s about remembering your loved ones that have passed away," says Elexia. “It’s about honoring their memory, their tradition.”
