For SuperCat: Cat is kidnapped and badly hurt. Happy ending please?
“I didn’t tell them anything,” Cat sputters, bloody spittle dribbling down her chin.
Kara cups her battered face and cries softly, knowing that Cat has been through way more than either of them ever expected. The villain responsible for this crime, a newbie superhuman who had adopted the name Iago, was already restrained and on his way to a secure cell at the DEO.
All Kara has to worry about now is Cat, who is bruised almost beyond recognition. Kara scoops the wounded woman into her arms and flies as carefully as she can to the nearest hospital. There, Cat is stolen from her embrace by a team of focused medical staff. She stands helplessly where they left her, her arms still curled up and around, as if Cat rests within them.
She awakens some time later when someone shakes her shoulder. A doctor in scrubs peers down at her, and she rubs her eyes clear before sitting up. She doesn’t remember sitting down at all, but exhaustion must have claimed her.
“Is she okay?”
“She’ll recover, albeit slowly. Not all of us have Kryptonian genes.”
He’s joking. Kara sighs with relief; Cat’s condition can’t be dire if there’s levity in the waiting room. “Can I see her?”
“Normally, I would say no, but she refuses to rest until she’s seen you, too.” He lifts his hands. “So, come along.”
He lets Kara into a sterile room with a single bed. When Kara throws herself atop Cat, he coughs and excuses himself. Kara nestles close and tries not to cry again. She has to be strong for Cat.
Cat pets her hair. “I’m fine, Kara. Honestly, you’d think the Daxamites were back.”
Kara shudders. “Oh, please. Don’t even think that.”
“I have to stay here for a week, so I’m counting on you to bring me my laptop and cell phone.”
“I can make sure Carter’s with his father until you’re ready to take care of him again.”
“Thank you. I’m supposed to be on a liquid diet right now, but I don’t suppose I could convince you to sneak me a sticky bun?”
“I love you, Cat.” Kara’s voice trembles a bit, but she manages a smile. “I’ll get you two.”
