"An exclamation of horror broke from the painter’s lips as he saw in the dim light the hideous face on the canvas grinning at him. There was something in its expression that filled him with disgust and loathing. Good heavens! it was Dorian Gray’s own face that he was looking at! The horror, whatever it was, had not yet entirely spoiled that marvellous beauty. There was still some gold in the thinning hair and some scarlet on the sensual mouth.
The sodden eyes had kept something of the loveliness of their blue, the noble curves had not yet completely passed away from chiselled nostrils and from plastic throat. Yes, it was Dorian himself. But who had done it? He seemed to recognize his own brushwork, and the frame was his own design. The idea was monstrous, yet he felt afraid. He seized the lighted candle, and held it to the picture. In the left-hand corner was his own name, traced in long letters of bright vermilion."

David, by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (c.1623-1624)
4.5/6
(English Translation)
The ongoing comparison of Bernini’s versus Michelangelo’s David is an argument I approach with a sense of hesitance. These two artists and their works are seperate is nearly every way; the periods of artwork their works were set in, the example of subjects, and the method of make. Both are marble portraits of the biblical character of David, and that’s about where the resemblances end.
I like the lip bite, very sexy, and the positioning of the torso is nearly impossible for most people to recreate. The proportioning could use some adjustment, as well as the placement of the bag on his hip. Just small things that remind you it’s man made.

David, by Michaelangelo (c.1501-1504)
3/6
(English Translation)
While usually donned a masterpiece by most, this work, to me, is such. However there are certain things we much take into account while reviewing this specific work:
It’s form and composition: 6/6
It’s ‘eye interest’: 2/6
In my mind it evens out
How many times, in school, have I been made to stare at this sculpture and tell people what I think of it? Too many times. Does this effect my review? Absolutely, yes. But am I entitled to my opinion, nevertheless? Certainly.

Certainement.
Quick drawing of something mundane. Emphasis here is on clever line expressions and its inherent abstractions of the still life objects ... as opposed to dwelling on the importance of subject matter. Although both are not mutually exclusive - it’s enjoyable to just draw. #artforartssake #sketchbook #sketch (at San Francisco, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B--xv_NJL5_/?igshid=1eyxltuxze3hg
Don’t need to ask me twice to make a journal.
Frida and Vincent for the win. Two people who inspire me to think about art, to care about art, to care about how I feel and to care enough to express it!
I admire how they saw themselves and how they saw the world around them. Glad they cared enough to share it with us all.
SHIPPING COLOR TO YOUR HOME! One of our best sellers! A Dictionary of Color Combinations Available at www.draw-down.com This book presents a collection of 348 color combinations originated by Sanzo Wada (1883-1967) who—during the early Showa era, a time of increasingly avant-garde and diversified use of color—was quick to focus on the importance of color and laid the foundation for contemporary color research. The book not only presents color combinations that are an important record from the Taisho and Showa periods; readers may also perceive a universal sensitivity towards color that can be applied in daily life today. #colorpalette #colourtheory #colourpalette #creativityfound #colorpaletteinspiration #creativefreedom #artforartssake #artseries #colorschemes #creativeprocess #colortheory #truecolortheory #SanzoWada Thank you for supporting small businesses! https://www.instagram.com/p/B-SVLVLn4Oh/?igshid=1gsyd5hb4mg68
