Ok so for a bit more of an in-depth thing on the deal with Arthur and Azura I posted about like 10-15 mins ago
basically, it happened "more than a decade" before the game's events (as is stated by Arthur). Arthur found Azura crying in the streets and tried to figure out what was wrong, but she wouldn't respond. She was out there because the castle officials were serious assholes and bullied her frequently and she was trying to escape from them, but she didn't tell Arthur that at the time.
Arthur saw some Nohrian officials from the castle wandering around and figured it would be bad if they discovered Azura themselves, so he lied to them about it, saying he kidnapped her from the castle so they wouldn't punish her. Azura then says "Oh, but, Arthur, those awful men whipped you mercilessly for saying what you did..."
Arthur's response? Laughter, followed by "I supposed they did. I had forgotten that part. Honestly, it was nothing. I didn't remember it, so it couldn't have been that bad, right?" DUDE. HE FIGURED IT WAS WORTH BEING WHIPPED TO PREVENT AZURA FROM BEING PUNISHED. AND HE DIDN'T EVEN REALLY KNOW HER THEN!! HE DIDN'T GET ANY RESPONSE FROM HER WHEN HE TRIED TO TALK TO HER. THEN HE JUST FORGOT ABOUT BEING WHIPPED.
Arthur may be kinda odd-looking to me, but dang if he ain't a great guy. He truly lives up to the title of "hero" (also Hero if you make him one).
ARTHUR LIED TO SOME NOHRIAN OFFICIALS ABOUT HOW HE KIDNAPPED AZURA FROM THE CASTLE IN ORDER TO PREVENT HER FROM GETTING IN TROUBLE AND HE GOT WHIPPED FOR IT AND HE'S JUST LIKE "Yeah but it was worth it" AND I?? CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HASN'T BEEN TALKED ABOUT BEFORE???
