Arthur Johnson (1874-1954), 'Kunstpflege von Heute', ''Kladderadatsch'', #10, March 1931 Source The German word 'Kunstpflege', as far as I can tell, translates to something like "Art Care", so 'Kunstpflege von Heute' means, loosely translated, "Art care today." Essentially, museums get financial support while living artists are left to fend for themselves. In other words, we only really seem to care about and appreciate artists after they die.
