In the Nightmare fanfiction I’ve written so far I’ve almost always included the headcanon that Nightmare’s home planet is Shiver Star. I’ve held onto this silly headcanon from the very beginning because I love the idea that Nightmare was a 'totally normal human who had learned forbidden dream magic' Also that he could never decide how powerful a demon beast would be or what it would look like, but that most demon beasts were born from dreams that he then brought to life (which is why so many of them look so weirdd)

And because of the magic his appearance had also changed rapidly to adapt his body to it

He would also be the type to always say he doesn’t miss his home planet and he would be the type to say that his fellow humans deserved to go extinct (whether due to a climate crisis an accident he caused Bill Cipher style or as many suspect a nuclear winter because Shiver Star froze over)

But I'm sure he's just lying to himself and that he created Customer Service with his own DNA out of desperation because he didn't want to be so alone even if Customer Service is just a human hybrid (or in that one episode where HolyNightmare has copies of the Mona Lisa I know who you are Nightmare or the fact that they own cell phones in general)

I also toy with the idea that the Ancients found him on Shiver Star and took him in because he had great potential for magic to become stronger butttt he then got sealed into a dream fountain bc he became to powerful 😭

Customer Service is also the only one who knows where his boss comes from and what happened (or which aliens he’s actually related to) Arthur knows something about it too but all he knows is that Nightmare was a 'human' Nightmare never told him what happened. I’m also sure Nightmare never wanted to say out loud that he was human because otherwise thousands of aliens would bug him with all the nonsense people say about humans lmao or he just doesn't care to want to talk about it which is the best reason

But I like to think Arthur annoys him once in a while bc he's such a sucker for ancient civilization and extinct races through the galaxy but Nightmare just yeets him out the room if he asks stupid questions... don't let them Aliens know
