Hello mods I hope you guys are having a great day! So I was drawing a reference sheet for one of my ocs and I was in the coloring part when I notice her posed seemed off and kind a stiff. I was trying to make it dynamic and put some character design into the pose so the pose can tell something about her. It was supposed to tell how scared she is against the world yet some what curious at the same time . If you can red line maybe the legs , torso and hands and how to make it more dynamic it would be greatly appreciated , best wishes to the mods! <3

This is a very interesting concept! Showing that sort of nuance in a pose can be hard. I can see what you’re trying to do, but it might be easier to be a little more vague within your pose and allow your story to show more of her character.
Since this is for a reference sheet, I assume this will be an idle pose (a pose she will hold for a long time), so keeping her feet balanced is key! I kept the hunch of her shoulders and the slouch of her back to convey her scared-ness.
I lowered her outward arm to make it seem less stiff and held more comfortably instead of being consciously held up. I also lowered her hand. Holding your hand and arm up like that takes effort to remain that stiff, and we want this sort of pose to seem effortless, like it’s a part of her that she subconsciously conveys.
The boxes I’ve drawn illustrate the rib cage and the pelvis, connected by the spine. A person normally can’t twist that much without feeling a lot of tension and discomfort.
