A few Spring things
A few Spring things
Happy spring! So even though the Spring Equinox isn’t until March 20th, today is the day where clocks spring forward, so technically it’s spring right. I should also add that I do not live in a temperate climate so technically these seasons aren’t experienced where I am but it doesn’t stop me from totally getting excited about this time of year.
I decided to do a post…

Product Review: The BEST Damn Makeup Brush Around!
Check out the BEST DAMN MAKEUP BRUSH AROUND! By @artisbrush #BBloggers @GRLPOWRCHAT
Hey Everyone! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again Artis Brushes are unlike any other brushes you are ever going to find, and use in this lifetime. If you have seen my previous review on my Artis Oval 7 Brush you are well aware of the obsession I have with these brushes. They are the game changer of makeup brushes and I swear everyone needs to go buy one and get their hands on them…

FULL FACE DEMO ARTIS BRUSHCRAFT VERSUS TRADITIONAL BRUSHES
These brushes are a pleasure to use. Especially the one for foundation. I never thought a small foundation brush of this size would be pleasant to use. It may take a minute more than the palm but it is much easier to clean. So now I have to decide which is more important: the speed for covering the entire face, or the fact that it…

I challenged myself to do a face mask every day for two weeks.
I heard around that some Koreans do these sheet masks everyday. Let’s face it, the sheet mask has become a staple since it popped up on the international skin care market.I rounded up some sheet masks, peel-off masks and cream masks in order to get an all around feel for different types of masks. I will apply one each night of the two weeks as instructed on the packaging.
A post will follow after each treatment where I detail my experience with the product as well as take an in depth look at their composition. I will detail the application, the process of wearing it, the immediate feeling upon removal, how long do the effects last and ultimately how my makeup applied the next day.
I will apply the mask at night at the end of my skin care routine. After the mask I’ll use my usual moisturiser and then sleep. Make-up application usually happens around 10:00 thus giving me between 10 and 12 hours to form an opinion on the effects of the mask.
In this post I will also write an in depth base makeup routine and the products that I use in honour of full disclosure. The products used in a foundation routine will not change for the duration of the challenge in order to not alter the results of the masks.
To move on to the beginning of the challenge I’ll detail my daily base makeup routine for the next two weeks.
I prime my under eye area with Tony Moly Panda Dream So Cool Eye Stick which works as a primer, eyeshadow base as well as a de-puffer.
I prime the rest of my face with Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine on an Artis Oval Brush
I let the primers sink in.
I follow up with Helena Rubinstein Spectacular Foundation in 22 Apricot on a damp Beauty Blender. I dot the product on my face and pat it around with the Beauty Blender.
I use Benefit Boi-ing Concealer on my undereyes, corners of the mouth and sides of the nose. I apply it with my finger and blend it with a damp Micro Mini Beauty Blender.
I apply MAC Translucent powder all over my face, especially in the T-Zone and undereyes with an Artis Oval Brush.
I apply Biguine Blush in 6206 Rose Tendre to the apples of my cheeks with a Real Techniques Bold Metals Blush Brush
After applying lipstick I use the Helena Rubinstein Spectacular Foundation in 22 Apricot on a damp Baby Beauty Blender to clean up the lip-line thus adding another layer of foundation around the mouth (note that I do not apply a lot).
I won’t use any setting sprays for the duration of the challenge in order to see the true texture of the cosmetics over the newly “masked” face.
Another very important feature of the posts will be a bullet pointed breakdown of each ingredient in the mask detailing what they actually do to the skin and what the downsides of using them are. Many times we disregard the ingredients list on products due to the highly complicated names they present. I took the time to comb through all the ingredients of these masks and elaborate on what they do, good or bad. I’m not personally against any ingredients. I feel that for every benefit it’s only expected to have directly proportional downsides. If you’ve never taken the time to look up the ingredients of these products I’ll do it for you. This blog’s beauty section will always include a reviewed ingredients list so you can better understand what it is that you’re putting on your face.
At the end of the challenge I’ll be doing an in depth ingredient review on the foundation routine I did for the challenge and comb through the cosmetics ingredients and see why and how they do or do not work well with each mask.
Look forward to my next post detailing day 1 of the challenge.
See you next time,
Irinka

#thethriftyshopper My 10 piece #bootleg set of Artis Brushes. This is not the brand name set, but worked perfectly in my opinion. This set is ideal for those with issues with applying makeup or health issues that affection coordination such as fibro. Since I've always used regular brushes, this was awkward to try at first, but easier as I finished my face. This set is $9 as opposed to the brand name which are about $400. Wash new brushes before using them for the first time. Store them laid down instead of a brush holder as these are very top heavy and call easily fall out and break. The handles are plastic, not metal like the original Artis Brushes. I got these from #WishApp #makeup #brushes #brushesfordays #artis #dupe #fibromyalgia #fibrofriendlyproducts
