This well-dressed mannequin (@bellafunk) is modeling my natural quilted leather bag. This tote-style handmade purse is a really nice size for every day wear. I generally use my Peru Tote for everything, but there are days when I’d like something just a tad smaller. I still don’t have one of these purses yet myself, but I plan on it! This premium leather is tanned with vegetable tannins opposed to the much more commonly found leather on the market which is chrome-tanned (a far faster process) and it is often labeled “genuine leather” which is the third lowest grade (of four grades) of leather. Full-grain, which this bag and all of my pieces are made from, is the finest and strongest grade available. Leather is a bi-product of the meat industry. No cow is killed for its hide. It is a material that would otherwise be a waste product and go to a landfill if not turned into something. Using bi-products is a positive, but the tanning process can be incredibly toxic. This is why it’s really important to purchase veg-tan whenever possible.
