Okay, really happy with how it turned out. The water took me forever. Lol. (I finally decided I was satisfied with it around 5am) The water isn't oddly shaped, it's just how I took the photo.

I did this piece as an entry to @/swiftterly's dtiys. (Instagram) The second photo is their version.

I kind of wish I had extra fine nib size paint pens for the water, to get thinner lines, but overall I think the water looks pretty great.

And I'm pretty happy with all the colours I chose. I did end up using my fine nib artistros instead of my medium nib poscas because I wanted the water details to be thinner lines than my test piece and thumbnails. Which actually means, the middle colour is the same as the top of the manta. But I don't think it camouflages the manta much because of the layout of the white.
