Multiplex: Art Licks Weekend Performance: 1 Evy Jokhova, Paper, Scissor, Stones Sat 30 Sep, 4pm
Initially developed during a residency with BijlmAiR in Amsterdam, the performance traces the historic tendencies of large-scale Modernist developments being designed, developed and regenerated by predominantly male-led architecture bureaus. The 3 women represent these stages: design, development and regeneration. Mimicking household chores they take to building and regeneration by rolling out lengths of clay on a concrete walkway, wrapping debris from an original 60’s buildings in the clay sheets as if cocooning it in fabric, and resting on concrete banisters. Each task is undertaken for 7 minutes, after which the women rotate, so that each performer does each task once in a cycle of 21 minutes. The performance is repeated 3 times.
