Its amazing how much you can learn about someone when they get caught in the rain ! some will run with their hand over their heads , other will smile and take a deep breath while enjoying the wind . What does it says about once relationship to discomfort ? The reaction to surprise ? The need for control ?

In every discipline , the ability to be clearheaded , present , cool under fire is what separate best from the mediocre . In competition the dynamics in often painfully transparent . If one players serenely present , while other is being ripped apart by internal issues ,the out come is already clear .

Quality of presence is best gauge of our commitment to work and quality of output .

The more present we are at practice , more present we will be at competition , in the boardroom , at the exam , the operating table , the big stage . If we have any hope of attaining excellence , let alone of showing what we have got under pressure , We should be present all the time. Presence must be like breathing.

If you are interested in really improving as a performer , I would suggest incorporating the rhythm of stress and recovery into all aspects of your life . Truth be told , This is what my entire approach to learning is based on -braking down our artificial barrier between our diverse life experiences so all life become reach by an interconnectedness .

I believe that an appreciation for simplicity , the everyday -the ability to dive deeply into the banal and discover life’s hidden richness -is where success , let alone happiness emerges .

To attain success in crunch time , you need to integrate certain healthy pattern in your day to day life so that they are completely natural to you when the pressure is on.

righteous indignation would get you nowhere . Only way to succeed is to acknowledge reality and funnel it .

Observe , Introspect and then make sandals .

The real art in learning takes place when we move beyond proficiency . When our work become expression of our essence.

At the highest level of any competitive discipline, everyone is great. At this point the decisive factor is rarely who knows more , but who dictates the tone of the battle . For this reason almost without exception champions are special . Their style emerges from their awareness of their unique strength . They are exceptionally skilled at guiding the battle in their direction .

WE have our knowledge . It becomes deeply internalized until we can access it without effort without thinking about it. Than we have a leap , we extrapolate we make a discovery . Most people stops here and hope they will become “inspired “ that devine insight will happen to them again . This is missed opportunity . WE should deconstruct and integrate the process of “discovery “ .

Tactics comes easy , when principals are in blood .

IF I have learned anything over my first twenty nine years , it is that we can not calculate our important contests , adventures and great loves . The only thing we can count on is getting surprised .Now matter how much preparation we do , In the real test of our lives we will be in unfamiliar terrain . Condition might not be calm of reasonable . It may feel as though the whole world is stacked against us . This is when we have to perform better than we have ever conceived of performing .

Some Teachers rebel so far away from being authoritarian that they praise all their little player’s decisions , good or bad. Their intention is to build confidence but instead they discourage objectivity , encourage self-indulgence and perhaps most destructively they create a dishonest relationship between Instructor and pupil that any bright child can sense .

When you are pursuing the pinnacle . Some time Limits must be pushed .

Something steeled in my eight year old self that summer. I wouldn’t go out a looser .

I responded to heart break with hard work .

Glory is a powerful incentive. invariably dreams are dashed , hearts are broken , most fall short of their expectations because their is very little room at the top .

Very smart kids with entity theories tend to be far more brittle when challenged than kids with learning theories who would be considered not so sharp.

The Key to pursuing excellence is to embrace an organic, Long term learning process and not to live in the shell of static safe mediocrity . Usually growth come at the expense of a previous comfort or safety.

In my experience , successful people shoot for the stars , put their hearts on the line in every battle and ultimately discover that the lesson learned from the pursuit of excellence mean much more that the immediate trophies and glory . In the long run panful losses may prove much more valuable than wins .

Children who begin their chess education by memorizing opening t, tend to be internalize an entity theory of intelligence . Their dialogue with teachers, parents and other children are all about results , not efforts . They consider themselves winner because so far they have won. In school they focus on what comes easy to them and ignore difficult subjects . In Playground they use the famous “ I wasn’t trying” after missing a shot .

Their confidence is fragile. Losing is always a crisis instead of an opportunity for growth if they were a winner because they won they must be a looser if they lost.

A key Ingredient of my success in those years was that my style of the chessboard was a direct expression of my personality.

Short terms goals can be useful developmental tool if they are balanced within a nurturing long term philosophy.

There is nothing like worthy opponent to show us our weakness and push us to our limits .

All mistakes have both technical and mental (psychological ) component .

Growth comes at the point of resistance. We learn by pushing ourselves and finding what really lies at the outer reaches of our abilities .

Hard Zone demands a cooperative world for you to function. Soft zone is resilient . It does not base success on a submissive world or overpowering force, but on intelligent preparation and cultivated resilience .

Mental resilience is the most critical skill for a world class performer .

my whole chess psychology was based on holding on to what was, because I was fundamentally homesick . When I finally noticed this connection i tackled transition in both chess and life . In Life I worked on embracing change instead of fighting it . In chess i would take deep breath and clear my head .

They youthful arrogance of believing I had the answer was gone .

A key component of high-level learning is cultivating a resilient awareness that is older ,conscious embodiment of child’s playful obliviousness. I believe that one of the most critical factor in the transition to becoming a conscious high performer is the degree to which your relationship to your pursuit stay in harmony with your unique talents . There will always be time to try new ideas, release our current knowledge to take in new information - but its critical to integrate this information in a way that does not violate who we are . By taking away our natural voice we leave ourselves without a center of gravity to balance us as we navigate the countless obstacles along our way .

Investment in Loss : Investment in loss is giving your self to learning process.

Most people don’t listen to suggestion and try to explain their thinking in an attempt to justify themselves . They are blocked by their need to be correct .

We are bound to repeat the thematic error because many themes are elusive and difficult to pin point .

The learning principle is to plunge into the detailed mystery of micro to understand what makes the macro tick .

When their is intense competition, those who succeed have slightly more honed skills than the rest . It is rarely a mysterious technique that drives us to the top, but rather a profound mastery of of what may well be a basic skill set . Depth beats breadth any day of the week .
