ALTER EGO. An alter ego means alternative self, which is believed to be distinct from a person's normal or true original personality. It is a second self or different version of oneself: such as the opposite side of a personality like Clark Kent and his alter ego Superman. In Latin, alter ego literally means "second I". Alter ego can also refer to the second, hidden side of one's own self.

Meet our 10th Goodtype Guest Curator, @benjohnstondesign. Ben is a multi-disciplinary artist, designer and muralist that believes in a hand-crafted approach to all his design endeavors. Born in Canada and raised in South Africa, Ben brings a diverse sense of influence to his work – finding inspiration from the small cultural nuances to societal differences that he encounters throughout his travels. • He has been featured in numerous magazines and online publications worldwide, including our latest book, Goodtype: The Art of Lettering. His work has won numerous design awards including Communication Arts for custom lettering, Print Mag award for typographic murals and also multiple TDC awards.
