Hey there! This is my painter friend Ellen Burgin @ellenburgin (swipe to see her work). We had a fun studio visit and talked about our work and the art world, things that inspire us, upcoming projects, family, and so much more. We took this selfie in front of a commission that I was finishing up, and it was nice to have a second set of painterly eyes on the piece before I sent it out into the world. Ellen and I are comrades in our love of color and use of frisky shape and pattern. But we part ways when it comes to approach. Her paintings are built with loose gestural brush strokes and layered bold shapes. I just love the immediacy of her work.
