Lovesick
You were the coolest thing I’d ever seen, head to toe with black in skinny jeans. The lovesick monsters left to rot in the deaths of their self created hell sigh, they’ve seen this a million times. Girl meets boy, girl and boy fall in love, girl leaves boy, boy realizes she was never even worth it, girl realizes what she’s done, and then girl turns into a wasted sad self loathing monster. But when girls is you and boy is him we all want someone to hear us out, to put down they’re expensive toys and forget about their worries to listen to our sad telephone wire hum. I showed up, and I was a bad girl. Baddest of the bad. Skin and bones, my desks in each class where my thrones. The school was my palace. Sipping Calypso lemonaid, I knew he loved to watch, he loved the way I put the bottle to my lips. He was soon the bad baby at my heavenly side, my other half. At night I would thank The Lord for everything I had, for how lucky I was. I would think about how the end would be for me and him. A lovely corpse and a suicidal bachelor, not a text message and a lovesick bad girl. But that’s how it ended.
There is so much beauty around me, us, not me, us. Because we are together, no one is alone. I’m here and you’re here. I’ve never been unappreciative of this world we live in. There are so many people and sights and souls to meet. Everything I see is amazing, I’m so grateful. My favorite is at night, that feeling, I live in the country and my town isn’t too well lit at night, but the foggy hazy lazy light that comes from the light posts is enchanting. The moon is bright, the stars are showing. People are starry eyed, falling in love with the people that walk in front of them and have the decency to stop. We run the nights on nights like that, every word that comes out of your mouth is like sweet tart peach juice on the tip of my tongue, I feel alive. I trust you, you are all that I need tonight. Tonight is magical, because we own it. I get goosebumps when you say my name, when you suggest we do something that could kill us, because that’s what I want. I’m young, I’m dope, I’m proud, I’m dangerous. Tonight we ride or die, but in the morning we will all be safe, at least we fear. You lay in the middle of the road, eyes ablaze waiting for my next move. I follow you down and whisper “We better move soon.” You stand and I follow. It’s to good to be real, but it is real, and that’s the scary part.
