Yamba Malawi 🇲🇼 This 22" x 15.5" (56cm x 39cm) acrylic painting is decorated with embellishments for the fading shadow on the left. The knotted rope is used for creating the neck ornaments. The face paint is made using an abstract lace cutout.
The fading shadow depicts the waning of awareness of the world around Malawi people and culture. The worn-out face paint symbolizes their hardships and the white-colored face paint contrasts the darkness to call out for hope in each of us. The intricate pattern used in the lace reflects the technology they have access to today. The elaborate neck ornaments and body paint calls out to the rich culture and heritage Malawi has to offer. This foundation of values grounds the painting.
