Hi Rozu! How are you doing today? I absolutely love your drawing and as a recently starting artist (as in trying to learn how to draw -.- ) I was wondering if you had any tips for developing an artstyle/overall drawing? <3
-Use 👏 references 👏
- When i first started drawing I did a lot of copying bits of art styles. If I liked how an artist drew hair I’d try drawing hair like they did, if I liked how someone drew eyes I’d copy the way they drew eyes. It’s like playing Frankenstein but with art styles skdhdk
(But also! Copying and tracing are two different things that are acceptable in certain situations
Tracing another person’s art and then posting it to online is bad. Even if credit is given it’s bad (Unless you get explicit permission from the artist themself) But tracing another person’s art for practice, meaning you don’t post it anywhere/claim that it’s yours, is okay! (Personally tracing for practice never really helped me draw better but the option is there)
Copying bits of another persons artstyle to incorporate into your own original drawing is okay! But copying whole art pieces bit for bit and claiming that its yours/posting it online is bad. Copying another persons whole artstyle is questionable but leaning towards bad, it just depends on intentions ig
-Just keep practicing and drawing whatever makes you happy! Your artstyle will develop on its own overtime so try not to stress too much about it
a comic about me talking to my younger self
Got any tips for developing a fun/cartoony style like yours?
I mean for fun its more like draw what you have fun drawing? Like if you like drawing it, then draw it! Also for cartoony I guess just watch alot of cartoons? Find people’s art you like and kinda take bits and pieces from their art that you like to put it together? No one’s style is truly “original” because its all been done before, but yknow find art you like and take what you want. idk this makes no sense sorry
I was just interviewed by the very cool Character Design References- they curate a mean site, and I'm honored to be in some pretty mighty company! If you're inclined, give mine a read- and either way, definitely explore the other featured artists and spaces on the site- some of my personal favorite artists are up! :D

im bad at these but here u go
I have to ask, Ever thought of doing a tutorial on how you draw? or how you found your style? ;3; I Love your style
I’ve done one tutorial like in my life and it was how I draw Octavius from Night at the Museum lmao but I guess if there’s another character y'all wanna see progress of I could do it. I’ve done a speedpaint before too but it’s really old hmmm
