my cat Mac was so cute today. I've been trying to get him re-used to the cat flap door we have- he used it just fine before when it stayed unlocked, but once they got used to it we introduced Curfew Mode. So now, it locks itself at certain times and only unlocks once a Registered Cat gets its head close enough to sense their chips (implants- track yo cats people) and unlock (which results in a click noise). Mac is PETRIFIED of this Click. He is a Good Baby Boy (he is not) and a Delicate Flower (he is 16 lbs and is built like a football player) and needs his People to Protect him from the Scary Shit. He will now whine and howl at the doors until a People will open it to let him in and out. (My mom is the biggest sucker for this).
So like I said, I'm trying to break him of the habit and get him to use the flap again. He'll follow me to the door and I'll crouch down to manually hold the flap open for him and don't leave till he's done it. Today he clings to my side (half-hidden behind me ofc) to sniff at the opening. But he's like "Nah, you're here, open the REAL door now." and I'm like "nope, Outside is right here buddy!" and stick my other arm through to prove it will not Decapitate him. He rushes back over, peers at my arm going through the flap and then slooowly and delicately opens his mouth to gently grip my elbow with his teeth (Cryptid level rarity- Mac's level of 'gentle' involves biting down hard enough to draw blood AND bruises. Like, ow, jaw strength) and try pulling my arm out of the flap. I showed him my arm was Very Much Fine and Not Injured by the dastardly flap and he finally jumped through, but I was touched he cared enough to try and 'save' me.
