I really implore you to take a look at my friend @lunaria--annua // @arvale-artist 's posts about an all but entirely lost game he adores. He's done and continues to do an immense labor of love to preserve, spread, and show off this game, as a piece of art, that someone made years ago for a short lived "console" (pocket PC).
The love for the game, characters, story, is palpable even from afar. Their devotion to treating this game with this amount of respect and care, and their dedication to showing what the original dev made accurately is phenomenal and commendable and super inspiring.
I'm going to be sharing more stuff for the next few days but there is tons more so if you are a bit curious then absolutely go check it out, and if you are confused then asking questions is the way to go as he loves answering in-depth and the whole reason for this is to share the love for this piece of media.
And I think in this day and age where Thing From Media comes and goes in record time with little fanfare it's so important to get utterly obsessed with something close to your heart and keep at it like your life depends on it. It really shows a level of passion and love and care and respect that is rarely given to anything nowadays.
And besides, it's a charming game with a silly protagonist who gets put through the wringer, and a fantastical whimsical world with downright horrific undertones and terrible implications and overarching plotlines. And it's being documented by someone dedicated enough to stitch together all of the intricacies of all that happens in a tapestry we can all take a gander at, because he wants to share it with everyone else. What's not to love??
